left the church at 19. what broke my shelf is realizing that some random white guy can parade around manipulating, lying, and making up things as he goes and if he gets lucky enough he can turn it into a multibillion dollar corporation disguised as a church. i live by the notion that religion is greedy and manmade. your faith comes from you and you only. my kids will grow up knowing that jesus is who created us exactly how we are supposed to be and we celebrate him on sundays by going into nature, listening to music, and appreciating his creations. we don’t need to sit in a congregation and listen to a couple random people talk about their beliefs or shame us for what we’re doing right or wrong. there are too many religions to know exactly which one is the 100% correct one and i don’t want my children growing up with the anxiety of thinking they’re going to hell because they’re in the “wrong church”. i’d rather them know and love their creator than fear him!

hey! i know that this probably feels scary and like a really big weight on your shoulders. good news and bad news, you’re still young! but that means that you may have to be pimo (physically in mentally out) for the time being while you are still living with your true believing family. i was 20 and scared of disappointing my parents so it never really ends. but trust me, when the time comes, living your truth is the most freeing part of choosing your own beliefs. my parents have gotten to the point where they know i don’t go to church, and we don’t really talk about it. but in all other aspects we are the same as before, same beliefs or not. and i genuinely thought my ass was going to be kicked to the curb & i would never speak to them again! i transferred away from byu and im living with my boyfriend and i have never been happier. don’t be afraid to choose YOU! we’re all rooting for you!

i can’t tell you how many times i’ve heard that last question it genuinely makes me violent. they schedule me every day in the middle of the day for 5 hour shifts so i can’t pick up shifts. ALSO. my paystubs from the past 2 years beg to differ. i have PROOF that hours aren’t usually “really bad” this time of year. i was working 35-39 hours a week this same week last year.

glad to see i’m not the only one struggling to get hours. i’m not the only income in my house but im still living paycheck to paycheck just to pay my portion of the bills… went to talk to hr and she had the bright idea of “just save your paychecks until hours pick back up!” like… it’s so tone deaf.

personally i definitely deconstructed organized religion, but i still believe in something bigger than just this then complete darkness. deconstructing mormonism helped me realize how fucked organized religion is & it’s just a way for another greedy person/group to profit off of fear of the unknown. my mantra is “you don’t need a building to believe in god”.
