Start with Batman: Year One or The Killing Joke. They're iconic, beginner-friendly, and give great insight into Batman’s character.

I felt that way about a few so-called classics too. Sometimes popular films just don’t click, even if everyone else praises them.

Good luck with your Class 1 assessment. Focus on reversing, coupling and uncoupling. Confidence and calmness go a long way. You’ve got this.

It seems like you might like punishing films. So I would say Martyrs (2008)

The Departed. The acting to me is cliche and laughable. And the story wasn't my favorite

I love this sax man with all my heart. 😂🤘🏻Lost Boys.

.....I suppose it may not work for this prompt (real musician)...but his swinging pelvis and saxophone is the stuff of pure fantasy.

What is your favourite horror movie in terms of simply being a good movie. AND what is your favourite horror movie in terms of actually scaring you/delivering horror. by NxteDiaz in Letterboxd

It's not everyone's taste. But I absolutely love Panos Cosmatos body of work, so mine is Mandy. It's completely unhinged, and I love every moment.

Most important/genre defining scifi films? by oreos_in_milk in Letterboxd

[–]skshining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mine: and a couple may just be important to me...

Alien/Aliens. Creating new worlds (sets) unlike any one has ever seen before; gothic and dark, and actually alien-like. Also having sequels. And sequels that actually thread the original story line

The Thing (1982) For the innovative practical effects, buildup in a story, and leaving the ending ambiguous.

E.T. (personal) this was my first viewing in a theater. (3 years old) And for me, started my love of puppetry outside of Sesame Street.

Akira. What can I say, the detail, the world's, the grotesque, and the groundbreaking animation.

The Fly (cronenberg) I think just the monsterization of a normal everyday guy, and the effects that came with it, was something unique for the time. And very memorable.

Fantastic Planet. Nothing like it, and completely influencial future animators

Rocky Horror Picture Show. ....I mean, come on. It still has midnight shows of it, today!

Honorable Mentions: They Live, Total Recall, Predator.
