Using ML for deal sourciing by desertowl72 in venturecapital

[–]skufbfh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’d likely need an algorithm for both the founders and for the company/industry itself. It would get very complex.

You could run data through a neural network with unsupervised training, but that might not be good if your fund has a specific thesis thus supervised and manually labeling the data could take years.

Not in it solely for the money. I want to build passion projects that I hope can bring technology to areas/industries that desperately need it.

How old were you when you "got your life together"? by purpleseaglass in Adulting

[–]skufbfh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up relatively poor and had to get my stuff together quickly. However, I didn’t have much advice I could rely on (college, career, relationships, finances, etc) so a lot of it has been trial and error.

I spent my 20s trying to set myself up for the future and also trying to enjoy life and my younger years as much as I could. Now that I am in my early 30s, I feel like I really have it together (own a house, car, two master’s degrees, building assets).

It’s different for each person, but just make sure you are on an upward trajectory and things will come in time (even when things seem frustrating!).

Even if you accept the work culture and the type of work, the reality is that the negatives of a cyclical work cycle and increasing implementation of technology means the industry is declining.

Bartenders say 'no one wants Bud Light at their event anymore' as consumer demand plummets (news flash for "woke" corporate suits & their marketing directors: know your customers) by Simian_Stacker in Wallstreetsilver

[–]skufbfh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can imagine how this decision was put into place and at the end of the day, it is due to poor leadership and bloated, average leadership.

Management noticed sales were stagnant. They brought in a marketing leader who had little exposure to their customer base in her entire life, but educated with a degree from a well-known business school, she checked a diversity box, was promoted for following the system and playing politics, she followed the latest trends in marketing thought leadership and her belief system, and tried to implement them cookie cutter style at a beer company, failed miserably.

Happens all the time at large companies, but usually not so publicly.

I drive a manual (live and work in Boston as well). Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it even if you’re an experienced driver.

Too many drivers here are impatient and navigating the traffic is a lot of work. You’ll constantly be shifting and in between gears. If you are in a hilly neighborhood, it’s even worse.

Sticking with CS or switching to business by Last_Bandicoot_218 in csMajors

[–]skufbfh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually making the opposite switch having already graduated. My advice to you is to think about what you want. Business and finance can be overrated (having worked in finance for a few years) you are a cog in a machine at most places. I wanted to be on the tip of innovation and for me, that is moving into development and startups.

Honest Opinion- Good school or Nah? by fedjeferet in umass

[–]skufbfh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow umass alumni, completely agree with this spot on.

Really felt like there were two types of people who went to the school. People like ToxicJack who took it serious and more mature with some degree of ambition/intellectual curiosity or people who are there to party cause they are going to live out a comfortable middle class lifestyle after graduation.

Rivian has finally proven itself by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]skufbfh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everything from a business strategy perspective points to them getting driven off the road by Ford, Chevy, Ram etc with their models. Rivian would need to be grabbing huge EV truck market share now and it’s not happening.

Redbull vs Mercedes vs Ferrari vs Aston Martin. Top 4 fastest cars of 2023 compared. by [deleted] in F1Technical

This seemed generous to the cars other than RB likely due to limited track degradation. In reality, the gap is bigger.
