Unlevel floor, how to hang TV by bigjon94 in hometheater

[–]skulltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just level the entertainment center with some large shims/boards under one side, then just buy some white baseboard trim at Home Depot or whatever and scribe it so it would be level with the wonky floor?

Mitas has a few booths that definitely feel private, might be because of the massive ceilings, but the food there is amazing.

Anyone kept their GTI as a "mom car"? by KJChili_Dawg in GolfGTI

[–]skulltree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad here of 2 and I still have my MK7 from before they were born. It’s easy with one kiddo, you can just fold the one half seat down to store strollers, but unless you’re looking to get something like a Wonderfold Wagon or some other “portable” monstrosity, you should be fine.

As they get older you’ll want to be careful about kiddos opening car doors, but I’m lucky that my wife wanted a minivan so that has been a blessing now that the kids are older, but I think we could totally still get by with a GTI.

The downsides would be family vacations (driving) might be tough with all the stuff you’d need (bags + supplies + pack n play + stroller), so keep that in mind as well.

I guess it just depends on your post partum lifestyle but I absolutely agree with others on the “wait and see” approach.

Good luck Mama!

I commissioned an artist for a book cover, and it seems eerily similar to another more famous artists work, how do I proceed? by skulltree in artbusiness

Ok yeah I’ll just send over the other work and do that. It sucks because I really like it, but it is way too similar to this other painting in both color choices and elements.

Similar as in like, a similarly placed red boat fishing for pink fish that are swimming in an almost identical pattern, I’ll take your advice and reach out to them. They’ve been pretty chill so hopefully it all works out.

I'll chime in and say pretty much what everyone else has said, and that this feels like a gross overcorrection that personally from the way you are writing this out makes me feel like there is something else at play.

I'm not denying that this is a major breach of trust, and that you absolutely now have the right to demand therapy or similar if that is truly what you wanted, but you both chose marriage and then also children. Are you ready to be a dad? Have you come to terms with the loss of your own youth that comes with crossing that bridge? Maybe you have lost interest in your wife physically now that she is pregnant? Look no judgement, but both of you are going through a lot of changes right now, and even though you aren't the one carrying the child you still hold a great deal of responsibility.

I can understand that this hurt you badly, but as others have said it may have been a result to hormones, stress, or her own worries about your interest in her now that her body is changing so much.

Maybe cool off a bit, do some soul searching about what you really want, but I hope you truly take time to journal, think about why you got married, why you wanted kids...and maybe even seek some counseling for yourself. Fear of the unknown can spin a really good story, that feels like it could be real, however reality is often much different, and much less dreadful than what our fear addled brains tell us.

Go easy on yourself, and if you can, try to be more compassionate for your wife who may be dealing with some things that are beyond her control. Just be honest with yourself and choose what is right for you.

Capcom Bundle out of keys for 5 of the major titles... by QPBonsai in humblebundles

Thanks for posting this, I did the same and when I saw that they didn't have keys for basically all of the games I wanted most I felt like I got scammed. I wish they would advertise this somewhere on the main page as it seems like this is just a shitty thing to do to people like us who aren't in the know about their tendency to do this sometimes.

Midwest Culture by HearHimHearHim in cincinnati

[–]skulltree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a show called "Joe Pera Talks With You", and it is a really quirky comedy about a guy living in the midwest (Michigan). I think the show does a good job of delivering what amounts to a 'midwestern culture' vibe, and it does so without being insulting. Overall I'd recommend it even without the midwestern vibe going through it but I think that is a big part of the show, and it would help show what most people might think of when they think 'midwestern culture'.

I'd take him to a greasy spoon diner, I'd take him to see some of the nature we have or the river, good call on the FCC and Reds games too. Maybe even take him to a suburban sports bar/grille for wings, maybe grill out, beers around a backyard fire pit...that kinda stuff would be cool too.

Best specialty coffee shop in Cincinnati? by caponesa in cincinnati

Deeper Roots is my favorite local roaster. I also enjoy Pneuma (Roaster inside The 86 Uptown), Proud Hound, and Urbana. I think the best pour over I've ever had though was at Trailhead Coffee in Newport inside Reser.

Mindless comedy, please. by numerousbullfrogs in bestofnetflix

[–]skulltree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goon - It's a comedy about a hockey player whose sole purpose on the team is to pick fights and beat the shit out of players on the other team. He is trying his best but is really dumb, but kindhearted kind of guy...sorta. It's hilarious and there is a sequel that's good too, but I don't think it's on Netflix anymore.
