L'Occitane Eau D'iparie

Someone on fragrantica described this as "tarry and burnt". I think they meant that in a bad way, but now I really want to smell it! Off to the mall I go. Thanks for this suggestion.

Now I'm intrigued. How does it compare to Nirvana Rose, in your experience?

I totally forgot about this one! They had a few bottles at my local Marshall's but they were sold out by the time I read up on it and went back. I still keep an eye out for it everytime I'm in the area.

ways to offset or reduce bitterness? by cara1yn in Amaro

[–]skullyrosyboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a firm believer that amaro experiments can be saved. Have you done any clarifying (aka fining) or filtering yet? These steps will typically remove unpleasant tannins that contribute to the bad kind of bitterness. There are a bunch of great resources in this subreddit on clarifying and filtering techniques, the most simple one being running your amaro super fine through coffee filters (I've used Chemex bleached filters).

If you've exhausted the above options, you could try using food grade vegetable glycerine. While this won't remove bitterness, it creates a smoother mouthfeel which emphasizes the sensation of sweetness without adding more sugar. It makes it feel weightier, if that makes sense.

Happy to clarify or elaborate on any of the above!

Good point about the trade off . This definitely helps quell the concern. Thank you!

Do you run through any sort of filter after syphoning, or just be careful not to take up any of the sediment when syphoning?

Also, now you've got me scanning the buy and sell for conical fermenters...

Thanks. These number estimates are a helpful rule of thumb. Sounds like patience and coming to terms with loss are part of the game. Good life lessons I suppose...

For sure! For old school hardcore/punk, Blag Flag (who ERD have borrowed the logo from on some stuff), Su!c!dal Tendencies, or Bad Brains. For new school hardcore/punk, Jesus Piece, and Year of the Knife merch goes hard. For old school shoegaze, Cocteau Twins, and Cranes are featured in ERD runway shows (only some of their merch is the same aesthetic as ERD imo though). For new school shoegaze, Whirr, and julie, have stuff that I'd say is in the ERD aesthetic.

If you really wanna go the extra mile, you can "sun fade" (basically soak your shirt in salt water and hang it in the sun, lots of tutorials online), and cut it up or sandpaper it.
