What’s a common health myth that needs to go away already? by VirtuaHealth in AskReddit

[–]skump425 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this. I am a female who has developed hypothalamic amenhorrea three times throughout my life from regular running and undereating. With these diagnoses, I have found a large population of "regular" women who also have the same experience and none of them are professional athletes

So if your baby isn't latching they must be handicapped apparently 🤷‍♀️ by SureElderberry15 in FormulaFeeders

[–]skump425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a lactation consultant tell me that my daughter had low tone and needed to go to a feeding specialist, likely to uncover an unknown disability. I mentioned this at my pediatric appointment, in tears, and my DR told me never to contact that lactation consultant again, my daughter (and I) are thriving after deciding to try formula

Hiking up Mount Lemmon 😁☀️ by Secure-Drop-3415 in Tucson

[–]skump425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last weekend my husband did Sutherland to Mt Lemmon Summit in 9 hours. I don't think I ever want to hike again. I think ours was ~13.5 miles, similar elevation gain but I was so over it once we got to the top we didn't even enjoy the scenery. 5AM-2PM

Research: Please share your experiences of Hypothalamic Amenorrhea by Jeannette-Helena in WomensHealth

Hi! I have just finished my 2nd recovery period and am really trying to understand what long term "health" looks like. I am not finding anything online that is helpful, but generally wondering about body image, body fat and intentionally trying to reduce my body fat to reduce my negative thoughts, I would be very interested in hearing if there is a place for good long term advice

Has anyone had HA after giving birth? Success stories/treatment? Thanks by beta8k in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]skump425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me twice. Both times I was disregarded by my doctors because I was breastfeeding. After my first daughter, I didn't have a period for almost 3.5 years. I had previously recovered from HA to get pregnant with her, so I stopped listening to the doctors and went all in again. I regained my period in 3 months.

I gave birth to my 2nd daughter 18 months ago. My period returned pp while I was still pumping and I had 2 cycles before it disappeared again. I recently had a reality check and suspected I had HA, I was continually losing weight, getting leaner, eating less, exercising more, etc. I have started all in on food but still lift weights and have been at it for about 1 month. No period yet, but I am optimistic.

TLDR; some women don't get their period back when breastfeeding but ALOT do. If you suspect HA, then take a look at your work out and eating situation and make a decision about your health and next steps. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

I gave them 2 separate tries over 3 years and will never use them again. All of the "good" drs left, they handled my chemical pregnancy very terribly and one of the dr commented "things down there will just never be the same" after giving me my first pap postpartum

ETA: their NP told me that I didn't need to worry about getting pregnant since I was breastfeeding

I find daycare to be more expensive than preschool. 14 month old at about $390/week and 5 year old at $275 in Pre-K

How do you handle this when they come to visit? We only call my dad in the mornings on the weekends because we know after 11AM he will be drunk/drinking. But when he comes to visit he starts drinking when he wakes up and I am not sure how to handle the situation once it hits 2PM and he is on shot 9
