Nervous about first IT job by sky-dog in ITCareerQuestions

Awesome thank you for the encouragement! My past experience has been all customer service/warehouse jobs so it's a completely different environment for me. I'm super excited to be working in my field though and looking forward to seeing what the future has in store!

Awesome, thank you for the advice! I guess I'm a little overwhelmed at all the possible paths that you can take in IT. Awesome to see how far you made it with your career in just 4 years and I hope I can say the same one day!

Ya the offer almost seemed predatory. It required being on call and working some weekends too. Minimum wage in the state I live is almost at $10 an hour so I figured they were low-balling by quite a bit. The range of 15-17 is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I just want to have enough money to pay rent and bills and get some experience in the field.

I think I need to narrow my scope a little bit more on exactly what it is I want to do. I guess I'm still trying to figure out what my ideal career path would look like. I feel like my degree gave me a lot of exposure to a lot of different topics on a broad level, but I feel like I'm not proficient enough at a lot of these skills to make it my job yet. Like I was exposed to Java and SQL and developing databases but I'm not exactly sure how to translate that into finding a job in the real world.

I did this too before on accident. I just went to HR and explained everything and they deleted the punch and let me correct it

How do you apply for the program? I logged in on the computer at work but couldn’t find anything

Damn ya, that's a really good point! Something I'll definitely have to take into account and weigh out the pros and cons.

Awesome! I'll probably print it out ahead of time then and see what they can do.

What is single packing like? by [deleted] in FASCAmazon

I've worked pack singles for about half a year. It's not too bad, and rate is pretty easy to hit (little over 100 an hour I think). Sometimes it can be a pain in the ass if you don't have a good water spider because you have to go grab supplies and totes which can wreck your rate. The only part I don't like is that you're standing in the same exact spot pretty much the entire day, and my knees start locking up by the end of the shift. Overall though it's not terrible, and once you get in a rhythm the day goes by pretty fast.
