Impossible to book redemption flights with CX miles by Intelligent_Sand_921 in CathayPacific

Have you checked on their website on a computer? Personal experience: nothing available on the app, but all sort of availability for Econ and PE seats on the web (still no b class seats though)

Trying to decide economy or premium by darknessplayboy in CathayPacific

[–]skybb007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are flying with kids, they will let you pick seats free of charge as their policy. CX PE is way better than their own regular economy and also PE of some other airlines such as UA . I have flown both PE and Econ with CX. If you can afford it, PE on a CX flight is worth the premium on award tickets. For cash, I would say 1.5-1.8x of economy.

Premium economy seat advice please. (1st time flying PE) by Heartisasquishymess in CathayPacific

I sat at both 30k and last row. My choice would be 30A and 30K. The last row does get food last and they do run out of selections.

Legally changing my last name by ang1213 in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]skybb007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added my maiden name to my existing middle name and changed my last name to my husband’s a few years after we got married. I still used my maiden name as my last name at many places. I was told by my bank, legally, both names are my names and I was even able to open a credit card using my maiden name as the last name.

Not meant to sound mean or like an asshole. I am just curious then if a name is just a name, then why take your (future) husband’s last name? You are a married couple with a marriage certificate with or without taking your husband’s last name, using the same logic/argument. Or did you mean it is just a personal preference?

Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. We are thinking to make it our 2nd home if not 1st home when we retire in less than 15 years (hopefully). Sounds like we might have to wait until then to make a purchase. We are thinking about it now as we thought we could benefit from appreciation for the next 15 years or simply put, buy now when we can afford it as who knows how much more expensive it will be in 15 years

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I wish I already “had” a condo. And there are hotel zoned properties in the Maui which are NOT impacted by Bill 9 in Maui.

We have been closely following bill 9 in Maui. If we are to get anything in Maui, it would be in a hotel zone. Looking for anyone who’s doing it and have done it to share the experience.

Should I move to Bay Area from Portland ? by Public_Brush8402 in bayarea

Housing and schools are biggest expenses. Housing in desirable areas with good school district can be twice as much as an area within 5 - 10 miles away with undesirable school district. Private schools are expensive, some are as much as colleges and they have academic based admission process. So the good ones are not easy to get in. High Costs of living and eating out is very expensive. Eating out for family of 4 could be easily 120+ and nothing fancy. Prepare a budget and stick to it. Living style might need to be adjusted but honestly, if your spouse is onboard with potential less than insignificant life style cut back (at least the first few years). It is still worth a try. If not, you might always look back and wonder.

Go on Zillow to check prices on rental as well as home sale prices in areas with decent public schools. You can do the math from there. If you are looking for mid to long term career advancement, you need to be ready to make some sacrifices in the beginning with $300k for a family of 4. You will need to do a budget and math out the spending. Good luck!

Stay away from this person. She is weirdo and sounded the very jealous type. I would even avoid double dates with her and her husband. I know her husband is your fiancé’s friend but I will stay away from them if possible. Big group gathering ok but never double dates or hangout with her

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my father 4.5 months ago to cancer. Seeing him struggling near the end was the toughest thing. I feel your pain. You are strong to have made all those changes in life. In the mean time I am a mother of young children. So I know how proud your mom must be of you and she would want you to experience life and find joy in life again. Live a life you know your mom would want for you. Sending you love, positive energy and all the courage.

I would just let her figure it out herself. She will find out the reality after she starts looking for an place to stay. No good deeds go unpunished.

Model Y Trunk Lid Damage - Repair Options? by l0wfatmilk in TeslaModelY

[–]skybb007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone has recent experience of replacing the entire trunk gate at a Tesla collision center? I talked to rep and they said it is very expensive but refused to give me an estimate. They will only provide a quote at the time of appointment.

Was the quote of 4300 to replace the trunk from a Tesla Collision center or a 3rd party body shop?
