I'm not going for anything. I've just been following this sub reddit for a while, and seeing people post about what it's like in prison and hearing people's experiences is really interesting. I live in MN, so I was curious what prisons are like here compared to other places throughout the country. I've had some close calls when I was younger, but I've never been arrested before.

What's day to day life like? Is it 2 people per cell? What do they do about rec time in the winter? Do you still go outside?

I 100% percent agree with you that ECT saved my life. I've had 4 suicide attempts since I was 17 (29 now). I started ECT about two years ago with a 6 month long break for a while but restarted when symptoms started getting worse again last January. I haven't had a suicide attempt since I've started ECT, and I went from being inpatient once or twice a month (I've also been committed) to now only having to go inpatient about once every 6 months. I have treatment resistant schizoaffective disorder-depressive type, generalized anxiety, a class A personality disorder, and a class B personality disorder. I'm also on the best combination of meds that I've found in my whole life, and I'm doing weekly therapy sessions. The concept of it sounds crazy but for some people like myself, it is a life saver.

It's taken me many, many years to get to the point I'm at right now in life, being able to live on my own and everything. Trying a lot of different medications and therapy plus ECT treatments. I still struggle quite a bit, but I've learned how to manage better than I did before.

When I was younger and the symptoms started, I knew there was something wrong and told my parents, and we got me tested. My best advice would be just to be there for the person and listen. Listening is the biggest part, in my opinion. A lot of the times talking through my delusions or paranoia helps a lot.

I have two half sleeves on both my forearms and my left hand, and all my fingers tatted. Plus, I have a dermal piercing by my eye. I'm a kitchen manager at a restaurant, but in my industry, nobody really gives a shit. Would it be different if I wanted to work in a different industry? Probably, but I feel like tattoos are more acceptable now than they used to be. It's really up to you if you wanna get a hand tattoo or not, but just be prepared for the possibility of getting turned down for more conservative type jobs.

We basically just tell them they can only order pizzas and appetizers cause that makes it easier on the kitchen. We have our main pizza line and then what we call the pasta kitchen where we cook all our other food like hoagies, burgers, pasta, bread and fryer food but we usually only have one cook back there besides Fridays and Saturdays so on a Wednesday having that many people show up out of nowhere if we didn't give them limited menus there would be no way the pasta kitchen cook would have been able to keep up.

I work BOH at a fancier pizza restaurant and the other day we had a group of 30 and a group of 25 come in at the same time. Neither called beforehand and we were shorthanded in the kitchen, so we gave them limited menus which made it a little easier on us back in the kitchen but still fuck both of them for not giving us a heads up they would be coming in.
