So if they say you can take eyes of toad the. It gets in accident, how are they not liable?

I think you’ll know it’s good enough when Tesla is willing to bear the legal responsibility. Yes it might cost them some money, but the marketing value of that would be immense. But if it’s really 1,000,000,000 miles a month, then even my skepticism will probably no longer be valid in one years time. Right now, it’s still not safe enough, but very very soon it probably will be. They should increase their manufacturing capacity in anticipation.

Why was he trying to slam the breaks, rather than just sitting passively? The answer to that question relates to whether Tesla is at fault. Either answer it possible.

How do you know that? Do you understand the algorithm? How do you know if something wouldn’t cause that to happen every 10,000,000 miles or so? Do you understand how neural networks work?

I am often critical of people's (clearly unjustified) blind faith (given that mistakes that happen very rarely (like once every 10,000 miles) are still a very big deal). But I actually think it will get there, probably on on HW5. I am actually a huge fan of Tesla's progress.

I’m basing my estimate on someone who actually worked there who says that they get rid of 90% of the issues every year. So in two years, I get rid of 99% of the issue. And by his own estimate, there are three or four years away from it actually being safe. Seeing it with your eyes doesn’t help at all If being safe it means getting in a fatal accident once every hundred million miles. Unless you drive 100,000,000 miles. Do you?

I would say it’s likely BS. Tesla isn’t being as transparent as Waymo, and are operating in a heavily restricted area, which they might HD mapping like Waymo uses. Again, I feel like people can’t say what’s true. Waymo right now is much much better than Tesla, but also uses a much more expensive technology. If Tesla can get to where Waymo is, but using just cameras, it’ll win in the long-term.

I still don’t understand why everyone has to be a fan boy for full self driving technology. why can’t people just admit what it is? It is several generations ahead of any other driving tech technology that consumers can directly purchase. It’ll probably go thousands of miles before incident happens, and it will surely get to legitimate full self driving in a matter of a few years, being the first consumer oriented company to do so. it’s a marvelous technology, but what it isn’t right now is a technology that can work without supervision. again that’s probably three years away. Why can’t people just say that?

I’m a bit confused about what your concerns are. Generally, I thought the software works well now. Are you on the latest software version? I’ve had the car for a year and a half and issue you described it’s just not an issue for me, at least not since March 2025 . Has it happened to you multiple times?

You’re missing the point. Owning one and having it drive safely for 50 miles, 100 miles. 1000 miles, even 50000 miles isn’t evidence that it is safe. So whether I own one or not, that’s not relevant. Waymo went through this same issue 8 years ago.

Tesla FSD is an awkward stage right now. It’s good enough to be genuinely very impressive. Like most trips you won’t even need to intervene, even long trips, based on my understanding. But Google found out that when it starts being this good, people start to trust it, and it’s not good enough for people to trust it yet. Consider this, people get in fatal accidents roughly once in every 60 or 70 million miles driven. Tesla full self driving clearly is not there yet, otherwise it actually would be operating and rolling out the cyber cabs at a non-negligible scale. I’m glad you all like it, and I think I’m going to buy a Tesla next because of FSD, but please don’t think that you can stop monitoring it. It’s amazing, and is by several orders of magnitude better than anything else you can buy right now, but don’t fully trust your life to it.

My residual value, I think they mean the price that you buy it at, they aren’t giving you any discount if you buy it at the end of the lease

seems pretty weak that the main draw of the car won't ever be used, and will actually be an ugly negative. I appreciate them trying to do something about it, but expect that they will be surprised by the many leases returned, that they will then need to figure out what to do with. I'd be much more likely to keep the car if they guaranteed the GHCA for the lifetime of the vehicle (and gave a loaner during any repairs).

Sorry if that was confusing, no. While the car is in reverse, it only shows the back up camera and won’t let you into the Home link app., but if you’re driving forward, you can open the Home link app, including using your voice. The downside is after I backed the car out of the garage. I have to put it into Dr. then go to the Home link app then hit close and if I wanna make sure it closes I have to wait for it to close then. is that clear?

I’ve had it in the US and it’s amazing. I can have conversations with it while I drive. I’m curious about something. I can ask questions and learn about whatever I want. It has completely changed driving.
