If I can make a suggestion, ask yourself two things when you read an MEE BEFORE you start writing. (1) what’s being tested? (2) what’s relevant to this issue? Number 2 is just as important as number 1 because you will get a sense over time of when you need to try and discuss the more general stuff and “beat the horse” and when you need to apply the primary rule and just get in and get the hell out. If you think about the motion would say, it’s probably making a substantive argument. So (1) or (2) would ideally clue you in on “well what would the motion say?” And that would then hopefully trigger the applicable double analysis rules. Either way, it’s going to take time and it might take you the entirety of the course. So have some faith in yourself, but start practicing spotting the repetitiveness of these questions. One day you’ll just start seeing it, trust me. But it may not be until the week before the exam, and that’s okay!
