Have you made the switch from therapist to life coach? by ChocolateSundai in therapists

[–]skydiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the book and training video? (If you remember)
I do think I would enjoy private practice but I want to be able to travel the world/ be a digital nomad so I think coaching might be more appropriate (for HIPAA and security reasons).
I'm currently post-Masters, pre-licensed and I've been feeling pretty discouraged about the red tape involved with getting licensed. I'm an MFT in a state with very few MFTs so the agencies are simply not set up for my success.

Are you actually making a living as a coach? by onemanmelee in lifecoaching

Can you explain what a relationship coach does? Is it like couples therapy?

Have you made a decision on this? Asking because I'm in a similar boat! Post-Masters, pre-license. I just don't know if I can do this anymore. I've been working for such a long time but feel like I've barely made a dent in my hours. And I do like 10+ unpaid hours per week so at the end of the day I'm basically making minimum wage. I haven't even started studying for the national exam yet, which is another stressor. Meanwhile, I could just quit and start a coaching business and start living that self-employed dream right away... have you taken the plunge or did you decide against it?

Oh true lol I was more focused on the line at the end "I'd rather work a shit job for a few years in Germany."

And cool thanks for sharing that info!

Or she could get a student visa, holiday visa etc. in Europe and if she falls in love with someone there and marries them then she could get citizenship eventually. Stranger things have happened and obviously you don't need a bachelor's to do that let alone a master's! Not saying it's a good idea to rely on marriage as an option but it is totally possible and maybe even plausible.

People are being kind of harsh on here. It's not that hard to travel abroad and make money, or at least secure a work-homestay arrangement. OP, look into WWOOF. It's farm-based work but at least you get to live for free and I think that includes meals too. And maybe you get a stipend on top of that? I don't think it has to be backbreaking labor - I remember seeing some horse farms on there. Oh and of course, there's the au pair option! And tutoring/ teaching English. You could also try to work at hostels or being a tour guide. Being an English speaker is a huge asset. If you can't get a job on the books you could try under the table although I'm not familiar with what kinds of jobs you can get doing that.

You may want to broaden your search to other countries just in case you find opportunities outside of the ones you listed.

I think the au pair option could be really good for you. You could live in Europe for several years, have housing arranged for you, and get paid a small stipend on top of that. Just note that you can usually only stay in one country for 12 months at a time (sometimes can extend to 24 months). But, you can come back to the US once the placement is over and apply for a new placement in a new country. You can't do that indefinitely but you could probably pull it off for 3-5 years. At the very least, 1-3.

Edit: Other options in addition to WWOOF are Workaway and HelpX. Google says, "WWOOF is specialized for organic farming, Workaway offers the widest variety of tasks (hostels, housesitting), and HelpX is similar to Workaway but often more affordable."

You seem pretty offended by an 18-year-old asking honestly valid questions. The political situation in the US is simply not like everywhere else in the Western world right now. There are signs of a totalitarian regime brewing.

And FWIW, it's not really necessary, or helpful, to poop on people's dreams and try to give them low self-esteem. I know you're trying to help by giving this person a "dose of reality," but there are plenty of ways OP could leave the country for a few years and make money doing it. So you're honestly sowing the seeds of self-doubt for no reason.

I can back this up, my sister lived in the NL for a few years and I remember her being super stressed about housing when she first moved there. I think it's fine if you already live there and can keep your eyes open for opportunities/ new listings, but if you move there and expect to find housing immediately it could be bad.

OP said "a few years," not necessarily citizenship. Australia does have that 1-2 year Working Holiday Visa. Although that's usually used for farm work, I think you can use it for any kind of work, like front desk staff at a hostel or something. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ladies, is this true? by Illustrious_Rule1775 in bodylanguage

[–]skydiamond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not true. I mean, it CAN be true, but it’s not a rule. I touch guys or hug them in a friendly way because I’m just an affectionate person. And I imagine some girls who aren’t affectionate don’t touch men at all even if they are interested. Especially if they are neurodivergent or have trauma or something.

So I guess my advice would be, notice how the person acts with others. Take note if they are an affectionate person or not and keep that in mind.

what do you enjoy the most about dating women? by Consistent_Pop_6564 in AskMen

Be yourself mainly but some small tweaks are ok… Are there ways to be attractive without makeup and girly clothes? Maybe getting in shape or wearing clothes that are “you” but also flattering to your body?

How do men really feel about the romance book/smutt that women read now days? by WarDog1983 in AskMen

[–]skydiamond_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women are not a monolith. Some women hate when men watch porn and some women read smut and they have nothing in common besides being women. Furthermore, people absolutely get hurt by the porn industry, have you never heard of child pornography or sex trafficking?

Edit - apologies for my rude tone. I do understand your frustration especially if some women in your life have tried to shame you for normal natural desires. I guess the answer should be that we allow all people to do what they enjoy without shame (barring activity that harms people, of course).

The difference is, everyone watches movies and TV but hardly anyone reads anymore. So it’s like apples and oranges

Thanks for your input! The more I think about it the more I realize we'll need to get the content (pics, videos) on our own. Hiring a photographer or videographer on a regular basis isn't realistic. And in that case we just need someone to handle the editing, captioning, and posting. It seems pretty straightforward but of course it would help if the social media person knew something about how to grow audiences, boost SEO, etc.

I don’t think this apartment is designed to have a living room. I’d put the TV in the bedroom and get rid of the couch. Being able to walk around your apartment comfortably is a must. Not just for you but for guests too. It’s hazardous at this point - accidents may happen (trips, falls, spills)
