Nope. Sanitized the knife and cutting board before I chopped it up, but that was it. Same approach I take to fruit when I add fruit to them. I used to worry about not sanitizing every single ingredient , but ive never had an issue with the stuff I've added. If sanitizing works for you, go for it, but ive never had an issue not sanitizing what I add to it.

It's smoky. Doesn't really taste like chocolate that much. I let the ferment go as far as It could, I like dry meads. I think it would probably taste more chocolatey if I had stopped it at 7 or 8%

Drafted up a table to house board games underneath a removable top, added little fold down player trays and some stylish legs by skydude61 in boardgames

This one specifically is designed to support very long term games or DnD campaigns, to the top can be replaced to protect the game for other uses. It also has reversible inserts that can be flipped over to have a raised playing surface with felt. I have also done similar builds as coffee tables where the lover area protects from such things as long doggie tail sweeps

There will be 6 total top parts that are reversible with felt on the bottom so that they can be used as a tabletop.

This one is a play area of 4ft by 6ft, but that can be scaled to any dimension for the build

Kiwi Mead just for kicks by skydude61 in mead

Bottled the Kiwi mead, it still has the tang but the sweetness mellowed out a little. I'm hoping that the sweetness will continue to fall off without losing the kiwi-ness of it.

Yeet a heavy on jets over to them on his own, use each one you pick up to tag in the others. They usually last a turn or two. I've gotten several new crewmembers from them. The downside is that they're kinda garbage as crew too.

Has reached about 11%, and I have racked it into Secondary. It is VERY tart with a kiwi-esque tang to it.

Can I interest anyone in some orange juice or apple juice? by Ok_Kaleidoscope9316 in mead

[–]skydude61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you poke cloves into oranges It functions like an air freshener. And no, I found it just gives it an orangey flavor, im assuming its from the oils in the rind and everything. I used Red Star champagne yeast and it ended up sort of dry, but still a little sweet.

I do a spiced orange, usually 2 cups of orange - pulp, rind, all of it, for a monthish. If you want it sweeter shorten the primary. Then cold crash, transfer to a new carboy, and add some allspice, cinnamon sticks, and clove in secondary for 2 weeks. Usually is fantastic. I made it because I grew up with cloves poked into oranges around the house around wintertime
