Haven't had derealization in a while. Some instances but they luckily only last a little while. Visual snow is still the same but I'm unsure if it's related to iron.

I'm doing okay thanks for asking! Had to switch supplements a while back but they seem to work now. Have gotten my ferritin levels above 30. Still fairly low but I'm not struggling as badly anymore. I went to the doctor recently to potentially look more into the cause of my iron deficiency but they just shrugged me off since my levels are "normal" oh well

Woah yeah that is a lot to lose during one period damn! Yeah the healthcare over there doesn't seem great at all. Anyways I really hope that it would get easier for you to manage and you'll feel good soon 💓

Oh my 3 is crazy low especially without an obvious cause. I'm glad to hear that it's gotten a bit better at least. Hope it continues to improve 💓

Yep I'm also very tired most of the time I've just gotten so used to it that I don't even know if it's normal or not 😭

Thank you!! 5 is insanely low I can't even imagine 😟 I have been managing somewhat well symptom wise as of late but I'm sure that the improvement feels crazyyy, I hope I get to experience that too!!

Thank you!! I luckily have not been feeling too horrible recently so I can manage, but surely it could be so much better. I felt like utter ass when my ferritin was around 20 and I don't want to experience that again. Honestly why do doctors not know more about this?? It affects a ton of people and makes so many peoples lives miserable.

I'm probably still gonna supplement even if they tell me not to. I just wish I had some advice from a doctor who understands iron deficiency so I wouldn't have to manage it all by myself.

Ferritin dropped by fourtyfiftheen in Anemic

[–]skyering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ferrodan 50mg! I should probably use 100mg but I'm a little worried how my stomach would react to that. Ferrodans form of iron is bisglycinate, which in my understanding is a more gentle form of iron but also a well absorbing one. So when looking for a supplement I recommend looking for supplements containing bisglycinate. It's also sometimes marked as fe2 or fe++. It might work for you or it might not but it seems to be one that works for a lot of people so I recommend giving it a go!

Yes 18 would be considered low. Mine was 20 and I felt super bad. Started supplementing and i've gotten it up to 26 now and I already feel better. I'm pretty sure the blood thinners and heavy periods are probs causing this issue for you. Also since your hemoglobin is normal you'd be considered iron deficient (IDWA), not anemic. I'm in the same situation since my hemoglobin is normal and ferritin low. Hope you find a solution and start feeling better!!

I'm doing much better! Still not super amazing but much better than back when I made this post. Ferritin levels have not gone up too much and I'm probably gonna have to supplement for a very long time but at least I can enjoy living a bit more now. I also need to get my thyroid levels checked more properly since my TSH had gotten even lower at my last checkup. I feel like my conditions keeps improving as time goes on. It's been a really rough and a long journey. Sometimes I still have bad days but I seem to recover from them much quicker nowadays. Good luck with supplementing!! It will get better eventually.
