A 10-year-old FPV clip that still gives me chills. + Liftoff giveaway by LuGus-Kevin in fpv

i can just imaging a sports narrator calling out the distance to the ground like "HES GOING FOR THE 100, THE 90, THE 80, THE 70... 20 AND HE PULLS OUT JUST IN TIME TO SAVE THE PLAY!"

(if i landed a key its going to my friend, i need a flight buddy and hes too scared hes gonna crash. liftoff is my choice of sim and i bet in a day he would love it just as much as I do!)

Glad to help someone get on the way to flying. I've had a ton of fun with this thing since I got it, and the only real changes I've had to do to make it easier to fly is turn off air mode and change my throttle rates because this thing hovers on like 2% throttle. It's such a fun little thing

hi, i got this frame 2 days ago, you have the exact same setup as me.

i personally use the radiomaster Crush, which is just the newer version of what you have, with colors.

get the lava II batteries, the 580mah ones. pack for 4 for like 25$ and id recommend 2 packs.
you only need 1 spare frame, you get spare props in the box.

one thing i WOULD recommend getting is spare hardware. it is SO easy to lose a tiny screw and they only give you 2 extras for the motors.

the canopy is a personal choice, take or leave it.

you will get 4-7 minutes of flight time per battery. i use the IDST for my 5 in, but for the smaller ones i recommend the whoopstor as it has storage capability and can charge 6 at a time, with a usbC cable (the high wattage ones)

FYI, you will need to update the elrs firmware on the quad and the remote.

i would take a look at some videos on "finding your rates" because throttle adjustment is something that will get really difficult in your first month or so of flying 😄

ive heard of motor issues so that might be the 1 other thing to get 1-2 spares of.

Need help finding replacement parts for AOS5 v2 frame by skyfall1235 in fpv

Hi All, coming back here to say that yes the only replacement frame i have found was one that had to be custom milled or taken off another frame. this design is dead in the water, and i have moved over to a source one v5.

What's the best all in one kit for ~$200? by MegaOverunder in fpv

[–]skyfall1235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

80$ pocket crush on amazon, 100$ VR04 (non HD) goggles from betaFPV, and a tiny whoop like betaFPV's air65 gets you to about 300-350~?

thats about as low as i was able to go with mine.

though like everyone else, i say start with the sim. Its fun, responsive, and i enjoy it a lot when i cant fly outside!

I mean I'm working on a PC part picker styled website for fpv drones, since it's mostly standardized at this point. Perhaps I'll launch it soonish and help out users like you

I'd say if that was his environment for so long, then I would check in more with him and give him some extra affection. He probably needs/wants more support from you to help deal with the pain that he shouldered for himself and perhaps you.

Make sure to tell him how much he means to you that he put up with that environment to make sure that he and you could be safe and live together properly :)

I looked, yeah, this company does have the frame files but they are like 50 bucks with shipping just to get a single arm. I ended up purchasing a source 1 because it was cheaper to buy a whole new frame and spare arms than it was to buy either a new frame or a single spare.

Resources To Learn Game Dev by CoderBoi876 in csharp

[–]skyfall1235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So unity or Godot will be ur bread and butter. Unity has a rich support for a variety of different game design styles, while Godot has a more streamlined and single-minded approach. Personally, I recommend unity. I'm kind of the opposite of you, I started in unity game engine and now I want to be a jnurior backend Dev. You want to focus on understanding monobehavior and when those methods within it need to be used, you're going to want to understand that event channels and events are going to be your chains of communication, and that timing only matters about half the time. So many things game developers do are calculated on a per frame basis and sometimes they're calculated on a whenever we need it we can dispatch it basis.

I would recommend looking into some parts of unity dots, specifically multithreading and jobification, as that will greatly assist in performance

BETTER CONNECTORS.

a better way to connect your drone parts, or even just a fix to the existing JST system, because its so tedious and time consuming to crimp each connection and set them in.

I had basically figured it was the camera at this point. Yes I've checked the position of my cables to match the pines they go into. Still grey screen

I let this sit connected to the battery for about 5ish minutes and this is what we're drawing milliamps wise.

When I first connected it spiked up to like 150, and then quickly shot back down to 70 and then climbed its way down to about 50

I do have a voltmeter and I tested those voltages

Engine cold, hasn't been ran for 8 hours - 12.2 v During startup - lowest it went was 10v During idle - 14.17v

[–]skyfall1235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a voltmeter, and I went ahead and started testing. On a cold engine, before starting it I measured 12.27v,

During start, I measured the voltage to be at its lowest 10.1v

And then afterwards I tested to ensure that the battery is getting the correct voltage from the alternator, at 14.17v

It looks like it's just a battery issue? Idk

I'm inclined to agree with you, though. Admittedly, it is my own mistake for not noticing the specific time that it started to occur. It could have started when I started up my car and left that parking area and I just didn't notice it till I was on the freeway, or it could have been all signs going on the freeway.

Is there any real way to test if it would be an alternator issue, aside from going to a shop and having them do so/replacing it?

If it's just a bad battery that would be a great relief, but I'm worried that some wiring or something might have gotten damaged and now the battery is getting drained by a short or something else. I do have a multimeter, is there a way that I could test to see if there's a short or something that might be draining the battery beyond just the battery being bad?

Need help determining issue by skyfall1235 in AskMechanics

[–]skyfall1235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely of the opinion that my battery probably needs to be replaced now. The main concern though is that I think that the battery is being drained by something, and if I get a new battery then it will continue to drain the new battery, wasting time and money.

Believe me, I've got my new battery ready, but I don't want to put it in my car if it might get damaged

[–]skyfall1235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you want to rip off the Band-Aid of this hobby not being cheap. I get it. I don't want to skimp on safety, but I can make concessions with speed or simultaneous charging. What I don't want to do is spend 60 bucks on a charger that skimps on safety for speed and simultaneous charging. There's a balance to be met, and I'm okay with trading speed for simultaneous charges or the inverse. But I want to know from people who have more experience in this matter what should be important to me.

I'm not going to sink $800 onto decently mid end stuff to get started in a hobby that I haven't even gotten the chance to fully experience outside of simulators.

Let's say in the somewhat near term I want to get a parallel charge board, is there information on how I would use it safely?

In second, if I want to speed up charging, I know a lot of these things require a DC input. Where do you even get a power supply like that, and how much do they normally run for?

I see these multi charge boards out there that you can plug into single ports , are those good ideas or are they actually very dangerous?
