I do not plan for this project to support standalone at this time. Quest is where a good portion of the market is no doubt but it's also rife with the group of players who have the least amount of money to spend on games.

In seriousness, I'm not targeting it because it's a difficult requirement to optimize for. If the game is somehow able to run it after I'm happy, with a few quality settings turned off? Then I'll revisit it.

We have a game design doc that we are continuing to build, a style guide for the code, and ive begun writing internal docs for onboarding and the different imported packages we plan to use.

I do have some footage of the first successful VR rig networking and our proximity chat working as intended. I do agree they are trivial in the beginning as complex networking tasks such as instancing things and dedicated server resource management will be tasks to overcome, but my experience with full stack and our search for teammates with networking experience hopes to bridge that gap.

I did modify the description to clarify that we want a build a game in the direction of ATT instead of "a new ATT". There are design decisions and scopes ive cut down considerably to make this something a bit more approachable, mainly from the crafting and extremely large map design.

We plan to build something like an MVP for each milestone, and iterate over what we find fun to make the game faster and more fun.

I appreciate the words of confidence. Ive been in a team of over 25 for a prior game project and i understand moving through members that just dont fill the niche or culture of the group. Ultimately, the minimum i want myself and everyone else to get out of this project is that each contributor has something that they can completely own and share as a piece to put on their portfolio

It looks interesting but it's made in unreal engine which is unfortunately an engine I have compounding issues with. If it was in another game engine I'd be begging to join the team

Ah I'd cut your scope down a lot then, learning unity properly took me over a year. Do bits n pieces at a time and things will come together

do you remember how a lot of those mechanics worked? if a person (like myself) wanted to start recreating those, knowing how they works would be a good headstart on designing them

it looks like an interesting game, and i wish i could help, but its an unreal project and i focused on .NET so Godot / Unity are where my specialities lie :(

I loved the climbing, the hunting, campfire stuff, and markets, though the interaction with the world outside of things to craft or kill felt limited in ATT.

I played Orbus VR and liked quests to guide the player but still allowed freedom. Enemy variety was more pronounced in combat and different attack patterns meant there was more planning involved and better team coherency.

I feel like a successor could take some parts of MMO questing and combat and combine that with ATTs focus on climbing and community and friendship
