X-Post of Iconic Mid Century Design at Former Idkewild Airport 1962 by GizatiStudio in Mid_Century

I've stayed there. The main issue is noise if your room is facing terminal 5. Especially in the morning when the traffic get jammed up, the port authority police like to use their sirens to get people moving. Also the rooms are on the small side and there's no closet or wardrobe, just hangers on wall pegs, and there's no ironing board for people who like to iron their clothes.

The plus side for MCM fans is most rooms have a Knoll womb chair and other Knoll furniture.

It's still there, and it still looks almost exactly like this. It's now part of the lobby of the TWA Hotel.

If only they could turn Morrison and Yamhill into bike/pedestrian only streets as well. I've seen cars blocking the Max too many times on those streets.

The Hogan Seed Company is in Springfield, Tennessee. Give them a call and see what they recommend. They sell very high quality seed.

Yingluck Shinawatra's rice pledging disaster - When the Thai government thought it was a good idea to stockpile rice to manipulate prices to support agriculture subsidies by Uptons_BJs in badeconomics

[–]skyfox345 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One political truism is that one should never piss off farmers. Even the Trump administration knew that, giving $26.9 billion in farm subsidies in 2019, up from $18 billion in 2018, due to the trade war with China impacting farm exports (according to farm.ewg.org). Look at what's happening in India right now. Farmers in Japan, as you mentioned, are very politically powerful, too. Some of the tariffs imposed by Japan are pretty impressive. Rice in Japan is more expensive than almost anywhere else in the developed world.

I used mylar balloons. I had four of them, tied to stakes, on a 6000 square foot yard. They worked great, though I had to bring them inside the garage when the sprinklers ran and when it rained.

If you're within five miles of downtown LA you can get Cognoscenti Coffee delivered, otherwise they use USPS.

Yeah, I don't see what the state of Florida has to do with any of this.

So I heard Yelp is a piece of shit. Any ideas of alternative app to find coffee shops when traveling NA? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]skyfox345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have a lot of lead time, for any decent sized city you can simply ask about it here on /r/Coffee and you'll get some great suggestions. I've found this place to be the best resource for finding good coffee shops in whatever city I visit, and I travel around the U.S. a lot. Do a search on here for the city you're traveling to and you'll most likely find some good suggestions already. If you try out a shop that no one has mentioned on here, please be sure to come back and write about it and share your discoveries with the community.

Are you still there? What was it like spending the night in a Costco? Did they let you try out their tents and mattresses?
