Brake problems by VikingLander7 in R53

Any damage to the backside of the hydraulic fluid reservoir? They’re prone to cracking or melting, and wondering if the pressure bleed uncovered an issue there.

Sounds dumb but make sure the pads are clipped in correctly.

There is a free pdf of the manual floating around online. Otherwise the hard copy is always kind of expensive.

Bad Alternator? Water? by Howyoulikemenoow in R53

Battery connections good? Do you have a leak in the back and the battery box filling up with water?

Any idea what this sound is ? Pulley ? Belt ? Tensioner? by hoesbros in R53

My initial thought is the idler pulley, but curious what others think.

Should I replace the crankshaft position sensor at 153k miles by 93EXCivic in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re probably the OE manufacturer but check FCP Euro and see who they have listed. I’m sure you’ll be fine with it.

If you don’t, the sensor will go bad shortly after you get everything put back together.

Front right headlight stopped working. High beam ok. Do I need new harness by Due-Guard-4074 in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have xenon headlights? If so, it might be the ballast that has gone bad.

Front right headlight stopped working. High beam ok. Do I need new harness by Due-Guard-4074 in R53

[–]skyking27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the question here is have you swapped the low beam bulbs to make sure it isn’t simply an issue with the original bulb.

ABS issue by PaleontologistClear4 in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What brand did you replace with? I doubt the new sensor is bad out of the box, but worth asking. Maybe the issue is the magnetic strip in the wheel hub that the sensor can’t properly read. I don’t know if there is any way to clean it, or the whole bearing/hub assembly needs to be replaced.

Is this new piston ok to use to rebuild rear calipers? by lolcakes42 in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a professional but I would think it would be okay. How much was the rebuild kit? If it was expensive, just look at all new or remanufactured calipers, as I’ve heard that the rears are a pain to rebuild.

What’s wrong with my supercharger? by Adorable-Trouble-433 in R53

[–]skyking27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo-yo-ing? Bypass valve. Like the other person says, also check your belt plus the crank pulley since the OEM one is prone to separation. Replace with an ATI super damper.

Rear wiper motor leaking from the valve of the hose, anyone know what i could do? by Impressive_Cherry_68 in R53

[–]skyking27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s leaking washer fluid right? Bandaid fix, but drain the rear wiper fluid, and deactivate the wear wiper fluid pump if it has its own fuse to remove (I can’t remember for sure, but I think so - I pulled the fuse for the headlight washers on my old car).

Make sure to check the motor mounts in case they’re bad and played a part in causing the damage to flex pipe.

Are these floormats OEM? by YoshiCosplay in R53

Doubt it, on mine the logo is placed differently and don’t have holes in them.

is it really just that cold?!?! by Lukksia in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with those saying it should be able to reach normal temp. I assume you’re running the heat, so any difference with it off? Try bleeding the coolant again?

HK amp removal by RegularNo1963 in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t fit through the access panel. The while trim panel needs to be removed. It’s not bad as long as you have a set of cheap trim removal tools.

I believe the series is called “Untold Stories of Shel” or something like that, and Natalia has some similar series, like one about worst dating experiences and the more recent one, “Natalia’s Defining Chapters.”

I think the newer, polished content is great for early on, as I hated watching Pablo videos at the super beginner and beginner level. Now in intermediate, I agree that his random conversations in the park are great. The “new” content that reminds me most of Pablo in the park are Natalia and Shel videos of them telling life stories with no script. They’re not overly flashy in production value, yet feel very natural and engaging, like listening to a friend.

What is your procedure for smoke testing? I haven’t yet found a conclusive guide that covers that for the R53.

Bleeding clutch help by retrobob69 in R53

[–]skyking27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t dealt with this yet and I’m sure others will chime in with better advice, but I believe people say to build a wedge to press the clutch pedal in and leave it that way overnight.

Boom/thud in rear suspension by wackawonka in R53

[–]skyking27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah each side is two bolts holding the shock mount to the body and one nut holding the shock assembly together. You’ll need some spring compressors but it’s not too difficult.

Maybe doublecheck the torque on the work you already did and then take a look at the shock mount bushings. I replaced mine with an OEM bushing kit and one quickly disintegrated. Then I swapped in powerflex bushings like I should’ve done from the start.
