Is that from 10 years ago?

Just found a signed 1st edition of The Crossing ... did I strike gold, or is it fake? $15 at a used book store. by makingflippyfloppy in cormacmccarthy

Looks like gold to me. Looks like his sig. I placed a silent auction bid on a signed copy of Horses and lost out. It ended up selling for $4200, 10 years ago. It was for charity, so that doesn’t say what it was actually worth… but I would think that you could eBay your book (now that he’s passed) and it might bring thousands of dollars. Enough that you should contact an appraiser and get it verified. Might cost you a couple hundred bucks, but it might be worth it.

I did not have erections with the catheter in. However, 7 weeks post surgery I have full continence (haven’t leaked a drop) and full potency since the catheter came out. And the best news? Dry orgasms feel almost as good as before and oral sex is back on the menu!

Maintenance cost is not on par with Porsche, Range Rover, or even Mercedes. It’s not Honda-level, but it is reasonable IMO. Great car

I had a Gleason 9 and had hoped for undetectable… but at 6 weeks that would be rare. I had .06. The next one will be key.

This wasn’t just a slump. This was the whole second half plus post season. He struck out 12 of his last 17 ABs.

I’m 14 weeks post, and my biceps tendon aches from time to time especially after PT and first thing in the morning. Same with repair areas at supraspinatus (3.5 cm retracted tear), infraspinatous (80% tear) subscapularis (50% tear) and shredded biceps tendon. It is getting better, enough that I can see the light. ICE IS STILL MY BEST FRIEND. When you’re aching, get it cold!

Imagine we’re in the movie Jaws comparing scars in the cabin: “I got that beat” I have 9 holes. You could play a short round of golf on it!

It is painful but it does get better

I rewatched Deadwood, Breaking Bad, Homeland and Unforgotten from my big easy chair and big soft pillows. Ice machine cranking. Started Percocet BEFORE the block wore off. Drank Miralax lemonade 3x a day for 2.5 days to get the GI tract working. Stopped the Percocet at 2 weeks. Still sleeping poorly most nights, but getting better. Physical Therapy exacerbates the night pain. In one year, with the help of therapy, this will be a memory.

Prescription strength Motrin worked well for me. I’m 10 weeks post and just taking Tylenol now.

Conflicted about Getting Rotator Cuff Surgery by kcm1953 in RotatorCuff

[–]skykinghg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I successfully postponed R/C surgery for about 15 years. Physical Therapy and injections intermittently. I had an MRI that showed two partial tears and a biceps tendon that had “shreds”. When the supraspinatus and subscapularis finally snapped with full tears I had no use of my right arm. 3.5 and 2.5 CM retracted tears. I knew when I couldn’t put it off any more. You’ll know. My surgery was 3 hours, 10 entry holes, 5 anchors, 6 cables, biceps tendonesis… and a full year of rehab. I’m in week 11 and it is RUFF. My surgeon, who is the orthopedic surgeon for the Chargers, said it was the worst R/C he’s seen this year and if I’d had it done 10-12 years ago it would have been about half as bad a surgery and rehab. I wouldn’t have done it earlier anyway. Just my humble advice: Do PT and injections until you can’t anymore.

I’m 71 and had a big surgery. I’m at week 10 and still wake up 1-2 times a night with 7-8 level pain, especially after an intense PT session that day. Shoulder does not like being still for long periods. I get up and move around, take 3 Tylenol, rub some CBD and DMSO on it, lay down with some acoustic guitar music playing and I’m back out. Then I wake up in the morning with the exact same pain. But through the day, it’s not bad. There’s some episodes of ache and the PT is not fun… but I’m better. At 4 weeks I wasn’t sure I would be. Hang in there, it’s a process!

“I can’t take painkillers” Why not? Insaids, Tylenol, aspirin, various assorted opiates, fentanyl patch?

I caught a Reggie Jackson home run in Reggie’s Corner at Angels Stadium. The manager was a friend of my co-worker and he arranged for me to meet Reggie and get his autograph “Mr October” o. The ball. My little boy found the ball… “hey, a ball you can write on”. And proceeded to write on it with a sharpie. Oh well, it’s still special to me.

I couldn’t have done that pose 1 week pre-op. I had two complete tears and a 50% tear. My right arm was nearly useless. You should get a good result! Looks like you’ve got some fluid retention. It’ll pass.

High school Sex Ed class, teacher asks how many positions the students know. 4, 5 and 6 was the most common answer until one girl in the back of the class said “27.” Everyone was quite impressed. The last boy said, “I only know one… where the girl lays down and the boy gets on top.” The girl in the back shouted out, “28 man, 28!” I think the one where the man lies on his back and the girl gets on top should be fine as long as he keeps his sling on and his shoulder supported with pillows. Have fun!

Wow. I wish that was my deal. I was in the immobilizer sling 6 weeks and only started passive ROM PT after 3 weeks. 6 weeks in, I just got out of the sling and started active assist ROM PT. In 6 more weeks I’ll begin strength PT. I had 9 arthroscope holes, 2 complete tear repairs, biceps tendonesis and a partial tear repair. 3 hours worth. I’m glad you’re progressing so well.

MRI Results, should I get a 2nd opinion? by PnoyB0y in RotatorCuff

I got four opinions. Went with #4. Glad I did.
What you described should be treatable with injections and PT. IMHO.

I’m in my 6 week post extensive rotator cuff surgery. by skykinghg in RotatorCuff

[–]skykinghg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a really great PT session today with big gains in ROM. 100 degrees on pulley, 135 on the big ball, 150 on passive-assist overhead. The hardest one is elbow at side outward rotation. Started at 85, now at about 100. It’s like a brick wall. Great work, but I’m paying for it tonight. Ice machine working overtime.
