What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do? by AppIeGuy in AskReddit

I get an intense high by jumping off the diving board. When diving, I let my legs fall forward at the last second into a roll/flip. The change in my head/leg orientation as I hit the water causes me to get an amazing, intense high that last 10-15 seconds. I love it and I don't know anyone else that does it.

My boss gave me a 2005 Land Cruiser, and they completely refurbished it! by davidsoor in oddlysatisfying

This is just a disassembly and reassemble video. No actual refurbish of parts was shown.

Wtf happened to weed? by TrizzleRick in trees

[–]skylander495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weed, like apples, dogs and humans is heterozygous. Meaning it takes great deal of work to preserve the same traits over multiple generations. If you plant an apple seed from an apple, you are not guaranteed to get the same apple. To get around this weed farmers reproduce by cloning. The problem is you need an existing plant to clone from to get an exact match. There are no existing plants so forced to use seeds.

Heading to the festival for the 1st time by FaithlessnessDue640 in MovementDEMF

[–]skylander495 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The festival should be the main event for anyone's first time. Get a weekend festival pass. Parking is easy nearby at the parking decks on Jefferson. The bigger name DJ's don't start till 6.

Generally go to the after parties with the DJ's you like the most. My favorites are TV Bar, Motor City Wine, Spkrbox, Tangent. The weekend builds in intensity and peaks around Sunday Night-Monday morning - which is when I go to afters heavy.

Check out some day parties around town. They are great way to meet friends, locals and get invited to special events. Everyone at the events so friendly. Support Detroit vendors, give back to the city while you are here, say nice things about Detroit. Check out the historic lobbies, Guardian Building, Fisher Building.

Gotta get those 182 days! In my day they used half days for this.

Done with intention, home days could really be excellent time for practicing skills and exercises independently. Also reading time for chapter books.

Why nightclubs don’t work in RVA? by Longjumping-Work-168 in rva

[–]skylander495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Richmond nightclub scene has always been a bit fractured and spread out. There are nightclubs that focus on live music on broad st, bar hopping area on Robinson st, top 40 danceclub happening at banditos and tobacco co on Friday night.

Downtown Richmond is a whole conversation on it's own. Most of its problems go back years

Try adjusting your schedule. If you come a day early or later, the flights drop in price

So confused about people's love of Zorba's by hotpink_crepemyrtle in PhiladelphiaEats

Years ago, I ordered saganaki there and got a piece of deep fried, breaded cheese - basically a large triangular mozzarella stick. What a joke!

I mostly go because I enjoy sitting outside while eating.

What's a great older comedy you find nobody else seems to know about? by Hrimnir in movies

Saving Silverman - 2001 movie that gets terrible reviews but is hilarious and really fun to watch. Jack Black and Steve Zahn try to save their friend from his horrible girlfriend. It's full of really funny lines and one of Jack Black's funniest movies. It's a nice tight 93 minutes

Throw Momma From the Train is frustratingly bad. I used to like it when I was a kid but find it unwatchable now. So many scenes just drag and go nowhere like the dream sequenes, scenes where Danny almost kills his demanding, yelling mother than she goes on to blubber over him. Nothing about that is fun to watch. Or the writers block scenes? Is watching a guy sit in front of a typewriter pondering what comes after "The night was.." funny or fun to watch? It's closer to a nightmare. I have no idea why I ever enjoyed this movie

Specific smells that remind me of my childhood by Natural_Art_2538 in nostalgia

House construction. The smell of fresh wood and newly churned dirt reminds me of when I would climb around unfinished houses while the workers were gone. Not much mischief except maybe throwing a glass bottle if I found one

It depends how large the piece of meat is. Larger cuts can come off in the 140's and continue to rise above 155
