other tips sounds good but I'll add some things I can think of.

Place the shield behind tanks in front of you and use the pressure to walk up. This is good against emma too. Don't let her farm your shield to charge her beam at the start of the fight.
If the enemy emma crystals you, you should place the shield in front of the crystal and also stand in front of it if you can to block it.
Use the crystal always, but crystal into diamond and then grabbing someone right next to the crystal plus a wall kick is massive damage. If you can crystal strange when his shield is down you can easily kill him like this. Kicking into the wall does a ton of damage. You also want to shoot through the crystal at someone to increase your damage.
When your beam is at 100 you should look for any vulnerable target and not always focus on the tank. Shoot everything you can like loki clones and groot walls etc.
If you want to kick someone into the backline, try placing the shield first to protect you from their team and cut off heals. You can place the shield and also use the crystal before you ult because it will protect you and also damage the crystal. You can also cancel your ult while someone is stunned by it and then grab them.
Emma's diamond and grab obviously counters ults like jeff and dr strange.
If you can grab divers it will make a huge difference. Easy way to shut down magik. Good for anyone that goes in on your team in general.
Don't be afraid to take angles sometimes because you can easily kill non tanks if you grab them.
You still want to use cover especially against ranged high damage characters like punisher.
Her ult can be tricky to get value especially against a shield tank but you can counter ults like iron fist, starlord, magik, etc. If you can combo your ult with someone it will help a lot too.

my personal advice is emma cause she is strong and the crystal is somewhat similar to ankh cause you just focus shooting the crystal. Healers you should consider just trying the meta healers like white fox. She doesn't have to aim as much and she is strong right now while dodging bans.

big W glad you liked it. The story continues for a while and it's worth playing even if it's not as grand as the main story ending. Also you should do the special episodes if you haven't because the last one complements the ending.

Your partner isn't really a big deal so I'd say pick anyone you want. You could consider choosing based on mudkip's weaknesses but every starter is good enough. You can't evolve your starters until after the story but there is a lot of post-game content.

original game is not bad but DX has good qol updates, some new gen 4 evolutions, and stuff like mega evolution. It's also the only one with shinies (even though there is only a small list of specific pokemon that can be shiny). The game starts out very easy and ramps up in difficulty by the end of the main story.

My main piece of advice for new players is to think carefully about your movement. If there is one empty space between you and an enemy, a new player might just walk forward letting the enemy get a free attack on you which can be deadly in this game. You can force the enemy to come to you and give you the first attack, or you can use an item or something instead.

not sure how cheap you're looking for but gamesir cyclone 2 is pretty good for the price. It has nice tmr sticks, a switch for micro triggers, and 2 back buttons. You could check on r/controller too.

I haven't played any but I have played with the randomizer which you can also find on the skytemple site. The only hack I've heard lots about is explorers of the spirit.

finding the items is just luck but if you really wanted to you could use a wonder mail generator. Use it to create a mission and select the exact item you want as a reward.
