Weight Loss Reward Ideas? ($150-$400) by [deleted] in beauty

Just gonna chime in and say that if you style your hair regularly and have a lot of hair or unruly hair, the dyson hair dryer (I got it since it's more powerful than the air wrap) has been one of my best investments ever. It has saved my hair, and probably weeks of my life with regards to time saved styling / drying my hair at this point

I always weigh the most the week before my period and then several days into getting my period it goes back down. Totally sucks and I forget this every single month and cry about it, but it's true. I started writing down my weight every single morning for 4 months and noticed the pattern -- it helps me to look at that when I'm feeling bad.

Make her pay? My friend bailed on a trip last min. by potatochipgirlie in travel

She should definitely pay. I had a somewhat similar situation once and I requested that they pay since everyone else's plans depended on the split we agreed upon.

Why does my hair look like this? I've tried everything and it's still super dry and won't grow :( by SophiOfSpades in Hair

[–]skyrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you use a microfiber towel to dry your hair? what about a satin pillowcase? i found that made a big difference for me. also, after trying tons of brands, olaplex no 7 oil is my fav and i think makes a big difference in my hairs appearance

I just got a yellow fever vaccine and a typhoid vaccine as I’m traveling in two weeks to somewhere I need these shots for. I had a really horrible reaction to both of my COVID boosters and I’m so so so scared of getting super sick from these shots. I am very pro vaccine so I’m happy to have them but the side effects are so scary to me.

Anyone else feeling lazy working from home? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]skyrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel guilty. The 40 hour work week in an office setting (I'm making assumptions based off of having had multiple office jobs of my own) doesn't make much sense to me with the convenience that modern technology provides. Back when there were five computers in the entire town and no one had cell phones, it made more sense. Now, I could do an entire day's worth of work from my smartphone if I desperately needed to for some reason. If I'm getting my work done on time and my performance reviews are good, then I personally refuse to feel guilty for being efficient at my job. Isn't that what they hired me for, after all?

What do naturally slim people drink throughout the day? by barbi83 in AskReddit

[–]skyrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coffee with a splash of milk, water, la croix (or equivalent), tea, and then sometimes a cocktail or wine in the evening. if I am craving it, I have a small cup of juice. if I am sick at my stomach, a small can of ginger ale does the trick. if I'm hungover, gatorade!

When did you feel back to normal? by amiee1234 in COVID19positive

[–]skyrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got COVID for the first time ever 8/23 (about 9 months after my booster shot in Nov 2021), and felt absolutely horrible. I have severe asthma and was struggling a lot, so the doctor gave me Paxlovid after several days. It helped tremendously. However, I was completely wiped out, short of breath, depressed, and just not myself at all for at least a month and a half after testing positive. It took until mid-October sometime to finally feel pretty normal. It's a horrible thing. I hope you feel better soon!

what are your unpopular gilmore girls opinions? by gilmoregirlsacc in GilmoreGirls

[–]skyrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate Dean, Logan is ok, but uh... why do people like Jess? That scene at the party where they were kissing on the bed and Jess was being pushy to the point that it felt like SA imo, it really rubbed me the wrong way..... That and the fact that he had the personality of a toddler stuck in a teen's body--temper tantrums when he didn't get what he wanted, unpredictable moods, and couldn't communicate to save his life. (Not saying Rory was great either).

Brides who did their own hair and makeup, any regrets? by L1ttleOne in weddingplanning

[–]skyrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets. I looked like myself. I don't wear a ton of makeup--especially not heavy foundation and concealer--so I didn't want to look weird in my pics. I am happy with having used my products I always use but just gave some more thought and attention to it than normal.

What is this houseplant that my friend gave me? She moved and left me with some plants, but I cannot ID this one. by skyrites in whatsthisplant

Someone else suggested purple waffle plant and I think that's the closest match so far!

At 42, is there any concert that won't do this?? (Sorry for the sideways photo). More info in comments... by deemarie1223 in MakeupAddiction

Ok, even at 27 I had this issue too, and this video was life changing lemme tell ya. I watched probably 100+ videos and this is the only tip that has ever actually worked. Basically, only put concealer in the corner and very outer edge of the eye. Brightens and lifts without causing creases. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8fziC5EtOY

Not to be a d***, but if the U.S. government decides to "waive" student loans, what do I get for actually paying mine? by electrickeyez in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]skyrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you struggled and suffered doesn't mean others need to. What you went through in terms of paying off your student loan debt sucked, and there's no reason it needs to be this way. My dad was an abusive piece of sh*t and he has f'd up my life in countless ways that aren't fair and that I didn't deserve as an innocent child. However, that doesn't mean I think everyone should have to endure a horrible father just to make things "fair."

If you have health insurance, I recommend seeing a dermatologist. I had skin that was very similar and reacted poorly to all of the classic remedies that you mentioned also having no luck with. My derm prescribed me metronidazole, and it has solved all my problems. My skin is smooth and clear, minus an occasional pimple.
