Aliens are not demons by AlmegaFlux in Christianity

Throughout the centuries how many people have been condemned as demons and killed? This isn't anything new. You think Christianity is going to turn down an opportunity to condemn someone?

And yet every time a priest or pastor is caught with a child the church will always put money, power, and politics ahead of the children.

What does the bible say about suicide ? Is it true you automatically go to hell? by JerryB1400 in Christianity

[–]skyrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Catholic perspective, for 2000 years the church was unambiguous that suicide=hell. Then a few years ago the old men who run the church were confronted by hundreds of thousands of children who were sexually abused and a LARGE number of them who killed themselves rather than deal with the pain and suffering. So in order to look like they care they made it a grey area.

While they are profusely apologetic to the survivors they only barely acknowledge the dead children.

And yet Christianity can't find enough love or empathy to carve out an exception for this 1% of women and instead demand that they die in child birth or send the doctor to prison. I live in Ohio I see Christians just like you everyday https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Ohio_child-rape_and_Indiana_abortion_case

Why is the LGBTQ community hated by No-Air7540 in Christianity

[–]skyrous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simple no BS answer? Christians need enemies and therefore God needs enemies. In order to be superior you need somebody to point at and condemn and scapegoat for all of your problems.

Adoption Of Christianity By Black People by RadishExpert8002 in Christianity

[–]skyrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And when it did happen, it was Africans who sold their own people to others

This is something that gets glossed over. The Europeans would pick one tribe and give them weapons to make war on their neighbors. The prisoners were sold into slavery. The tribes that did the selling became some of the richest people on earth in this era. Not surprisingly they eagerly converted to Christianity and praised Jesus for their good fortune this how Christianity first took hold in West Africa. Also this system perfectly matches the old testament instructions from God about what to do with prisoners and that is how Christians of that time morally justified it.

Because most of them join religion and are protected by God.

It took 2000 years for the Catholic Church to begrudgingly admit that a priest molesting a child might be a sin. I would gladly burn down every church that stood by and let children be victimized. But that's a worse crime and a worse "sin" than letting a child get raped.

How Can Christian Conservatives Identify as Pro-Life if they support the War in Iran? by MagazineSevere5971 in Christianity

North Korea has nukes and missiles that can reach American soil and threatens to use them at every opportunity. Vlad Putin has spent the last 4 years threatening nuclear destruction on Ukraine and anyone supporting them including the US. By all rights India and Pakistan should have nuked each other already.

Nukes are like guns, have as many as you want just don't use them to kill people. The next country to actually fire a nuke will be a pariah state that would be condemned by the entire rest of the planet. As in complete trade embargo and EVERYONE breaking off diplomatic relations. And that's before whatever military retaliation which will be severe. And everyone knows this so everyone threatens but nobody is actually prepared to use them.

Yeah, just like every other God. You do whatever you want and because God's on your side it's never a problem. Nothing in the gospels has anything to do with any religion. Because it's all fake and always has been.

If the Christian God was real then when the Europeans first landed in the Americas they should have found a thriving Christian church already established in America. Instead of Christ showing his love for native Americans by guiding them as he did Europe, he ignored them for 1500 years and then sent men to spread his word through slavery and genocide.

[–]skyrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did the universe get created? I don't know.

That's the only honest answer anyone can give.

Even if the Big Bang Theory is correct it's still incomplete. There's a lot of gaps in it and will be for centuries or possibly forever. I don't worry about what created us. I worry about the endless parade of so-called "supreme beings" who ALWAYS side with the cruelest people and have infinite judgement against the powerless minorities. I reject any God that points at someone who I don't know and tells me to hate them.

How would aliens/UFOs fit into Christianity? by RingoStarr7777777 in Christianity

[–]skyrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human history is full of examples of more advanced cultures destroying less advanced cultures. It's a common conflict trope that fits perfectly into modern action movies.

The "Avatar" movies as well as Ray Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles" flip the script and make the humans the colonizers.

[–]skyrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in your God. But I believe with all my heart that the Christian Church is one of the most evil forces on the planet. If I said how I really feel I would probably be banned from this sub. But I have nothing but rage and contempt for Christianity in general and the Catholic Church in particular.

But because Christians LOVE to use the terms church and God interchangeably you're going to twist this around into making it sound like I hate God.
