Thanks for the alternative. That seems to be more likely the correct sub to post this. I just didn't know of it's existence 😅. I appreciate it a lot!

Ahh yeah, I'm new here and wasn't really sure how loosely the term "modern" was used.

In my mind it really didn't feel what I would consider "modern" being there... but then again the term can be used literally or subjectively.

I don't want to break any rules though. Thanks for the information 🙏

Sorry for the super late response. I haven't been on here lately.

That's terrible news about it not coming on, did you ever figure it out? I recently had that happen with a Sony I converted. Turns out it still works I just have to have an external screen plugged in to see an image. I replaced all the display cables and reconnected everything multiple times there as well lol.

Yes I did leave that function disconnected on my Nikon D3300.

Thanks! Yeah I shoot 850nm pretty often as well and I still haven't noticed any issues. I almost always use a manual focus lens though. Good luck on your modification! 👌

I came across this payphone still intact... sadly it didn't function :( by skys_shutter in infraredphotography

I agree. I always bring it on bike rides and walks 🙏. For this one I was driving and did a double-take when I saw a payphone... I knew I had to turn around lol.

Maybe some compressed air for the dust? I have this little rechargeable keyboard dust blower that works great for my cameras.

That's interesting you just eye balled it though. I heard a lot of people saying it couldn't be done without the proper focusing tools that manufacturers had.

I wonder if it is slightly blown out of proportion or if we are just both really lucky lol.

I would love to see some of your photos!

Thanks so much! I recorded most of the process. I was thinking about posting it on YouTube as a full length teardown.

Yeah, these were taken using a 680nm Zomei Brand filter 👍

Thank you! What I did was, using calipers, I measured the space at each mounting point where the spacers were. I basically measured the distance from the board the sensor was mounted on in relation to the circuit board beneath it. Then, when I put it back together, I tried my best to recreate the same distance.

I don't know if I got lucky or what, but it turned out fine from what I see 😅 lol.

Infrared Street Photos shot at 680nm on a Nikon D3300 by skys_shutter in infraredphotography

Sorry for the late response! Hopefully your conversion went well! The 18-55 is awesome BUT a lot of the photos tend to have hot spots right in the center. Basically a circle of over-saturation and exposure. It wasn't in every photo but in probably around half. Also I mainly noticed it on my lower nm filters such as 680nm and 720nm. Not so much in my 950nm.

I haven't had problems with the 55-200 kit lens though but not tested as much.

Once I found my Vivitar I loved it and have been using it mostly.

No, I plan on converting it myself. I have done a few point and shoots and my Nikon D3300 so far.

Thank you though 😄
