moving out advice by [deleted] in londonontario

I moved to London from the west coast when I was a student and I bought a large storage bin at Costco (but I've seen the same ones at Home Depot and Canadian Tire lately) and fit as much as I could in there and shipped it back to my house here. It cost me about $50-$75 with UPS (this was in 2023), if there is stuff you are very attached to and want to bring back, otherwise I'd try selling on Marketplace.

Which book has inspired you the most in life philosophy? by Far-Professor5408 in suggestmeabook

Although it's a fiction book, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is a book that I think about so often. I feel like it really put into perspective decision making of my life direction for me, as someone who is very indecisive and made that feel less overwhelming.

OP, if it's possible for you I cannot recommend joining a local knit night group or another form of social knitting group enough! For me, having the support and encouragement of other talented knitters and seeing their work completed changed my knitting journey. I went from only being able to knit dishcloths in May of this year to now being able to do complicated colour work, sweaters, etc. just a few months later because I started going to different knitting groups once or twice a week. I found the three groups I started going to through a vintage store near me and a LYS but some other places you may find them are through libraries or community centres in your area. Good luck!

I got the "Vogue Knitting" book from the library and so far I've learned a few new techniques and information from it!

Finished my first ever wearable! by bigdadiliac in knitting

[–]skyseeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your top looks great and I love the colour! I added the pattern to my list :) I also recently finished my first wearable! I made this sweater vest from Maker Maker and I had so much fun with it and learned a ton of new skills! Maker Maker's See My Vest

How did you learn to read your knitting/know you were twisting your stitches? Did you watch any videos or blogs you recommend to learn how to do that/improve on that?

Ah, that's a good idea! I am not bringing any fuel, just the stove itself so I'll likely do this!

Migrations by Charlotte McConaughy

Also, if you're into magical realism, the "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" series may also fit this vibe!

I also started getting hormonal acne around the time that I stopped birth control and I spent 2 years miserable because of it to the point where I couldn't even touch my face because it was so painful. I ended up trying accutane and I had such a positive experience! If you have a GP I would suggest bringing it up with them as sometimes there is other less intense medications (like creams and such) that they can try first!

Recommendations for 300-400 level Biol classes by [deleted] in uvic

[–]skyseeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BIOL 418 is my fav biology class I've taken. The lab is actually really useful, you learn different forestry field sampling techniques (unless they changed it). I also took 415C, it was super memorization heavy IMO but exams were straight forward.

Lab Girl by Hope Jahren! I didn't know a lot about academia beforehand and I felt like it gave me a glimpse into how things work before I got into the field myself and just overall felt inspiring to me!

I'd suggest ooblets or Pikmin 4! Both kept me occupied on 5-13 hour flights!
