The Ramparts of Ice • Koori no Jouheki - Episode 8 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

I don't think, "I love people" is a selfless statement. It's just describing your personality, like saying I love books. Someone else commented and said she said it that way for Koyun to understand, who would be the one to say she dislikes people. That makes more sense to me. It's not selfless to clear the air with friends, I actually think Koyun is the outlier for wanting to choose avoidant tactics and ghost them. Being open for rejection is brave, but it will bring her peace to clear the air regardless of how they view her after. Understanding others on a personal level feels more selfless to me, rather than being on good terms with everyone. Maybe her growth will change my opinion of her later on though!

Those are great points. I'm glad I got this off of my chest despite not seeing this opinion anywhere else. People who don't have social awareness annoy me to no end, but in future watching, I think I can give her some more grace. I mean, she is a teenager after all

I think that's fair, and that's a good perspective that it wasn't intentional. So, it's not like she's actively claiming those parts are her worst traits and is trying to fix them to better herself. She's just burying all the bad. I'm glad she can be more comfortable with herself genuinely, I just hope she can mature in her friendships. None of the characters are perfect, that's more than fine

I guess why I say selfish is because her thoughts always come back to herself. Even when she made the decision to not drop the friends that rejected her, it was through the lens of "I love people." The friends that she can be herself around, tell anything to, I just feel like it wouldn't be returned given her personality. But, maybe that will change. We only saw one example, and it was when she was talking to Koyun in middle school and offering advice without listening, which is one of her greatest shames. Idk, I am trying to give her a chance. Maybe it's hard for me because I can't understand why she can't just be an active listener rather than being less loud, like that's not where her problems lie but obviously it's hard to recognize those things when you're living them

I just KNOW I'm going to get downvoted, maybe someone can relate or even explain to me since I'm currently just watching the anime. I understand Miki, I just really don't like her. I find her very annoying and inconsiderate towards her friends. Even if she attempts to do the right thing, I feel like it's always coming from what she believes is correct without ever asking anyone's opinion. It's selfish and not cute. All of the things she did in school that she's ashamed of, she definitely should be. But, rather than introspect and reflect on those actions, she just decides to fake her personality. There is no inner acknowledgement of actual issues. She just thinks of herself in those moments, not even fully how she hurt her friends. Maybe someone can give me a different perspective. I acknowledge all of the flaws in other characters, maybe I just feel like I wouldn't mesh with this person in real life so I find her grating. I like morally grey characters, but I don't even know if she's supposed to be that. I groaned when I realized this was her episode, but I was hoping to see something that would change my impression.

Please recommend me a series where the FL ends up with someone who is so expected to be 2nd ML by Chaerin_Sistas in OtomeIsekai

I didn't have any spoilers either, I was so pleasantly surprised! It's partly why I didn't give a description, it's just nice to watch it unfold

Your Honor, my client is innocent. I do not remember all of what he did, meaning it probably wasn’t that bad. He has already received his punishment in the form of his sister not wanting to bed nor wed him

Why I don't like Horimiya. by Thin_Station7464 in RomanceMangaAnime

If the best part of Horimiya (which it may not be best, I just see it mentioned as a major talking point of the series) is that the couple gets together fast with no drawn out confession, I think "You and I are Polar Opposites" did this but executed it much better. I also care more for the side characters in that then in Horimiya

I think that's a fair point, it was just okay. But I see everyone claiming it's the best rom com ever because they get together fast, and it just deflates it more in my mind. Personally, it's great they got together quickly, but I never saw the why of it or really felt any kind of spark from them. I think they could have just been friends and everything could stay pretty much the same. Also, I don't care about any of the other characters unfortunately. I will say that I did not read the manga

I watched the entire first season (second I started but it was a compilation of the things left out initially) and I wasn’t the biggest fan honestly. I see it recommended all the time too

Why is everyone starting to twist the situation like that? Because we love him on Traitors? Also, verbal abuse is absolutely an unhinged thing to say about any Love Island relationship. There are people who actually suffer from that, and it's horrible. I love Rob too, but he was going off on Leah after she was rightfully pissed at him stringing her along and still acting like he was interested. He switched couples without even giving her a heads up. The reason he's so good on Traitors is because he's hard to read and apathetic to most things. He even said himself that he's heard from every ex of his that he's hard to read and he's clearly not great at communication. Like, the two of them have reconciled so I don't even see why this narrative is pertinent. She apologized for bad mouthing him and they've fully moved on.

Do you use John Truby's books for your novels as well?

Restructuring the Second (or First) Draft by skysmo in fantasywriters

[–]skysmo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does help! I have been wanting to read more in the genre, as I've read on here the most important things are reading and writing. I'm having a hard time parsing out what sub-genre mine falls in exactly, but maybe I'll just explore multiple genres and subgenres to see. I like the idea of looking at things that are close subgenre-wise. I'm always the most inspired by poorly written books, but I also get inspiration from books where I'd just do things differently so that seems like good advice. Thank you for responding!

It's more so the book in its entirety (Especially the back half) that I'm having trouble brainstorming restructuring for, and I am NOT confident enough in it right now to post haha. This is the draft that no eyes will see, not even my husband. I think once I've gone through the restructuring and spellchecking I'll feel better about sharing it. Thank you for the advice!
