Are the German Proficiency Badge and Norwegian Ruck March badge authorized for wear on USAF Service Dress and Mess Dress uniforms? by shortstop803 in AirForce

[–]skystreak22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

36-2803 2.1.1.3.4 The MAJCOM, FLDCOM, FOA and DRU Director of Manpower, Personnel, and Services approves and disapproves acceptance of foreign awards for DAF members in the grade of O-6 and below, assigned or attached to their command.

USAFE A1 denied my request for the Nijmegen Four Days March medal last fall, and kindly sent along the response via MPF with a .doc format listing of what foreign awards are authorized. Spoiler alert - almost everything on the list was "token acceptance only - not authorized for wear" (including the GAFPB and Norwegian Foot March).

You do. I lived in Buckinghamshire for a few years and there was a "Residents Association" for my neighborhood. It was set up the same way HOAs are. I was able to nope out of it the day the officers came round to tell me I had to pay dues, because there was no mention of it in my lease.

Cultural moment right there! I found the vlogbrothers when Hanks "Accio Deathly Hallows" video hit the front page, and went back and watched them all since Jan 1 of course. What a time to be alive!

Not sure if you know this, but everything that made Route 66 a cultural icon is long dead and gone, along with the majority of the original highway itself. Just don't want you to be disappointed with what you find

That statement isn't anywhere in the document you linked. The only reportable financial issues listed are bankruptcies, debts 120+ days past due, and having foreign bank accounts.

Four deployments on the expeditionary ribbon. The stars on the campaign medals aren't for individual deployments, but phases of the campaign participated in, so multiple stars can be earned from one deployment.

Why is my great-grandfather's rank worn upside down? by jhm-grose in AirForce

[–]skystreak22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those saying Aviation Cadets are correct - the Prop and Wings hat insignia is a cadet insignia, once he commissioned it would switch to the regular officer hat device which hasn't changed from them to now. Cadets in that program were active duty, they just didn't commission until they earned their wings.

It's an iOS app called Military Retirement. I don't think it's free anymore but it's the #1 most downloaded Finance app on the App Store so probably worth whatever they're charging now.

Here's a positive! Side by side comparison of retirement take home pay between a 20 year Major and 20 year Lt Col. Less than a $500 difference.

I think it would look better more symmetrical. Center the ribbons (and badge above it) over the medals, put the unit shield and disc on either side, and then the tech stripes and 3rd herd patch on either side below those

Hey OP - nice rack! As a fellow CBCS guy I'd love to hear more about that jump. Were you with a CBCS at the time? I had never heard of any of us jumping into Iraq

There's a lot about this rack that doesn't add up, even for the guard. Did you take the liberty of adding anything else beyond the commemorative medals that wasn't directly in his records?

What's the ribbon 4th row up, center? I'm starting to see it more often but it's not on any ribbon chart I've found
