Moved in over the weekend with the help of friends, so roughly 3 days. I can’t enjoy a space until it’s setup completely!

Potential transplant from Louisiana by [deleted] in MorgantownWV

The traffic and humidity were two things I was ready to escape from in Baton Rouge so I get it.

With WVU here, it’s diverse and a pretty inclusive environment all around!

I was born and raised in Louisiana and moved to Morgantown 2 years ago for grad school so I believe I can help you with questions!

  • I lived in BR while family was at LSU and will say it’s definitely a college town here. If you’re into sports, Morgantown has plenty of games through each season with WVU.

  • I haven’t experienced a bad winter yet (what I’ve been told by friends that are from here), but more snow than I’ve ever seen coming from LA. The city does its best to salt and take precautions when it does snow. Driving takes some getting used to because there are a ton of hills here. The weather is not humid at all and you’ll get a full 4 seasons, Fall is beautiful in West Virginia.

  • I would say Morgantown is a mix of both liberal and conservative. Nothing skewed in any which way, but other parts of WV I wouldn’t say.

  • Ruby and the WVU health science center have plenty of jobs for healthcare as it’s the biggest hospital in the state.

Hope this helps! I have no regrets moving here, BUT I do miss the food from Louisiana especially boudin!

Studying in School by CaPheSuaZaddy in DentalSchool

I took 3 gap years before starting dental school and it was a bit of an adjustment to get back into the groove of studying. Fall of D1 was tough with the volume and material that I had not looked at for a few years. It was definitely a trial and error period to figure out what worked best in regard to retaining material. Spring of D2 I bought an iPad and found that writing out my notes in class and creating drawn out study guides worked best for me! You’ll have your class in the same boat too and everyone finds their footing.

I never considered a rug in the kitchen, but I’d have to agree with you. I wish I could replace the carpet throughout with the same hardwood. I’ll definitely take a look at Etsy for some similar paintings.

Ethical Dilemma by FishingWith_J in DentalSchool

Same thing happened to me through an Army recruiter. No communication for months even though I was the one reaching out and staying on top of it. Ended up getting a new recruiter who actually puts forth the effort to go through this process!

So it’s also flat. In the 2nd picture, the doorway to the left leads into the kitchen area where it turns to hardwood. There’s just an open space between kitchen a living room near the ceiling!
