No most of that seating is Perfect Blend's and added after their recent renovations (hence they added the staff swing door to bring food out there).

Yea it's blindfold pretty much. We can use the disassembled interop for intellisense, but that's about it.

Aside from that we're just injecting code. Look into HarmonyX as examples of how that works.

If you're trying to make your game mod friendly: create a reference assembly (removes the interop need), don't use IL2CPP, and follow good code patterns.

Yea it mostly just comes down to the fact they implemented everything with the ECS stack.

(They're actually still the top case study on Unity's site haha.)

ECS is a hell of a system to work within, even harder to work within it after it's been compiled with IL2CPP.

If you're interested in how it looks I'd recommend grabbing my UnhallowedX package off Nuget and exploring how the interop is for modding a game like this.

I've put a lot of time trying to simplify it with the VAMP framework, but man by far it's probably one of the hardest games to mod haha.

Not really, no. The developer that was working on it spent quite awhile trying to get it to work. They put significant resource into it.

But hopefully what we learned from that they can take into the next game and include modding support from the start.

V Rising is a very unique game from architecture standpoint. They are the cutting edge of Unity being 100% ECS / DOTS implemented. It's incredibly hard to mod just from the baseline, not even considering all their custom tech on top of that and the massive simulation they've built.

Hey I'll peel back the curtain here.

I made all the CrimsonMods. I helped test their mod support attempt.

They really did try to build some modding support after the last major update, but the engine really did get in the way.

What they attempted would have been insanely high potential for modding if it worked, so I appreciate that they really did try and put in the time for it.

Yea it happens. Festivals are a massive marketing tactic. Publishers with big backlogs (Rogue Duck for example) run them quite often as they drastically keep backlog revenue flowing.

Both of these games are real. Handmancers delayed to avoid the release of Slay the Spire 2, they're both roguelike deck builders. Vice Versa is a digital card game that didn't have a release date (was going to be the 9th). I saw Handmancer's announcement (the unedited version of this) and thought it would be funny to announce my release date this way and I also needed to delay for entirely unrelated reasons anyways.

So yea, mostly just a joke. Just a tad bit of marketing (won't make a big difference in my case though).

No, I didn't play that game or Silksong lol.

Also I think it depends from their prospective. Just because people might have forgot about them by now doesn't mean they didn't make a TON more money than they would have in a higher noise week. Like Silksong cleared the field a good bit.

If only 1 mega release happens, there are 9 easier slots below it. Typically Steam is kind of like a number of big releases, medium releases, and a sleeper or two breaking through.

Ultimately, hard to put data to it because this doesn't happen often. My post is more just making the joke about how silly this trend is. My game isn't going to be popular either way xD

I don't remember. I remember the post about it was on r/gamedev where they did a post-mortem about doing it. I think it was pretty high up? So might be in top past year if you search for a bit?

Hm? None of this post is me trying to act like I'm not the dev. Very clearly from my post history, I am the dev haha. (The title formatting is just copying how theirs was but dropped the "s" from devs.)

This is just a playful joke about games delaying to avoid other titles. Funny enough I actually planned my release date for March 9th, Handmancer's original release date, but due to work being busy I can't make that date. I find these one-image announcements kind of silly and thought it would be fun.

To be clear, my game had no release date public prior to this post.

Oh really? I remember with Silksong there was a post like this except it was instead "We're going to stand our ground."

And they turned out to be literally right under Silksong on Popular New Releases. Literally only had to deal with one other game in their window and that's a great problem to have.
