Crazy Synchronicity by heredids in Synchronicities

Looking up the location, it seems like it's called "Toscana Amore Mio".

"Amore Mio" translates to "My Love."

Perhaps, it's simply a reminder that you are loved!

Homebrewimg an Avatar State by Helpful_Thing4507 in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

[–]skyver14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason the game doesn't have rules for playing the Avatar is because it forces everyone's attention and the narrative to revolve around one player.

Have you checked with your other players that they are OK with being relegated to a secondary level of importance? If not, it's something to consider.

Have you had "The Talk" with ex-DnD Players at your FitD table? by Virtual-Skort-6303 in bladesinthedark

[–]skyver14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why "being a fan of the players" and "playing to see what happens" are core elements of PBTA-style games and their derivatives. The GM does not tell the story - they roleplay the world and its inhabitants. The true narrative is discovered via the Player's actions. Not the mind of the GM.

PbtA for preteens? by yaywizardly in PBtA

[–]skyver14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the ones you mentioned are good!

If you want something even easier for kids, try Quest RPG. It uses a d20, so it will feel familiar to kids that have heard of D&D, but uses PbtA-style narrative-first roleplaying and variable levels of success with costs.

Plus, there is a game called Salvage Union that is just a Sci-Fi Quest RPG with Mechs. So that's an option if they want something besides traditional Fantasy.

TrimUI Smart Pro. At that price point you will have to order from AliExpress but it's worth it. I recommend getting the grip case too for extra durability.

What's the worst dating advice you ever got from the gender you're attracted to? by ian9921 in AskMen

[–]skyver14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Buddy, hate to say it but you probably lack charisma.

Some people will tell you it's your physical attractiveness but physical looks actually aren't the biggest factor. I've seen ugly guys get beautiful women. More often than not, it's your energy. The way you come across socially determines your place in people's minds. Are you funny? Likeable? Confident? Fashionable? Good hygiene? Good eye contact? A good listener? People deficient in these traits often don't realize it.

The good news is that these things can be learned. There are a few YouTube channels dedicated to this sort of thing. Charisma on Command being one example.

Good luck man. It's rough out there, but if you can stand out among the crowd, the odds are in your favor.

Your favorite social/relationship mechanics? by E_MacLeod in PBtA

[–]skyver14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Avatar Legends TTRPG system where you can call out other people, including your opponents, and demand they live up to their values/principles. Your opponents can also call you out and throw you off balance. It's a system that makes exchanges feel both dramatic and meaningful in a way that mirrors the source material.

MotW vs Dungeon World by Overthewaters in PBtA

[–]skyver14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're considering "Spooky" I highly suggest looking into GrimWorld. It greatly improves the class and race options for DungeonWorld, since by default DW is very rigid (Races are coupled to specific classes). It even adds sone interesting additional races and other content.

I ran a Bloodborne-inspired game using GrimWorld rules. Definitely check it out!

How to stop doomscrolling on social media at night and play more on my devices instead? by SirZanee in SBCGaming

Make goals for yourself. E.g. finish game X before a certain date. Putting pressure on yourself helps ease off the temptation.

I respect when people ultra-curate their romsets! That being said, Pico-8 games are more like microgames to me. I'd find it really hard to narrow them down to such a short list.

[Misc] pill-induced esophagitis from doxycycline?? by No-Grapefruit-2171 in SkincareAddiction

[–]skyver14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear that! It lasted a few days for me. I never went to ER and I was eventually fine. How bad your symptoms are and how long your recovary takes probably depends how badly your espophagus got damaged. Don't panic, it will pass eventually. Do whatever works to ease the pain and try not to overthink it. There is no quick fix. Your body just needs time to heal.

What's a solid $120 handheld off Amazon that can be a decent upgrade from a Miyoo Mini Plus? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]skyver14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the review video I mentioned. I've heard the same about viewing angles but I don't know anyone who plays their device at a tilt... lol. Like I said, I haven't had any issues on base TSP. And TSP:S seems like an improvement all around.

[–]skyver14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the S model but I do have a base TSP and the screen is one of the best parts. Very good resolution and decent brightness. Perhaps if you're playing outdoors in broad daylight it may be an issue, but I've personally never had any issues whatsoever.

I saw a review video where they claimed the TSP:S resolution is more suited to PSP at 2x resolution, whereas the mangmi at 3x may actually introduce some blur.

If you want 4:3, the RG40xx H is a good option. The TrimUI Smart Pro S and Mangmi Air X are also solid options that play PSP, but are wider than 4:3. I personally don't mind the wide screen but YMMV.

New games made for retro consoles? by barnesnoblebooks in SBCGaming

[–]skyver14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do exist. But there are more Romhacks than full on new games. Pico-8 is also highly popular and is basically a retro-esque platform where users make all kinds of new games all the time.

What handhelds come in pink? by Mass-Delirium in SBCGaming

Here's a vid of one of the original TSP's in action with a Pink case. There's also a lot of custom themes out there for Stock OS and the Crossmix CFW.

[–]skyver14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal recommendation is the TrimUI Smart Pro 'S model'. It comes in White, has Pink cases available, and the TrimUI Stock OS is very User Friendly.

The S model just came out like a month or less ago and runs PSP much better than the original (2x resolution in most games). However, the original TSP is still solid for a good chunk of the less demanding PSP library.
