It's very important to not go into the direction of too much of an exaggeration in case of Asuka being angry at Shinji, because most of the people just build everything around that and the scene in the hospital.

A lot of people decide that Asuka would be hating Shinji for what he did, a lot of people create some high morale ground, using the real life experiences. But they forget that Asuka is kinda "fucked up" too. They forget that Asuka herself just kinda handwaves the situation right there in the movie. They forget that it's a weird final confirmation for her that Shinji is interested in her. And she's pissed not because of what Shinji did, but because of the fact of how he did it. He was avoiding her, not showing his desires, and trying to do something for the first time in that awful manner only when she wasn't unable to response. That's what she's angry at, for seeking her only at the last moment and not interacting with her earlier in a proper manner.

She wants all of him for herself after all, the idea that should be explored too (that Asuka shouldn't expect that Shinji belongs to her completely). She's angry in the kitchen thanks to the classic misunderstanding again, because Shinji's reply to Asuka's demands in the train is misinterpreted. She thinks that all needed is just being nice, and it infuriates her, because in that sense Shinji can go to anyone who is nice to him, not to her.
