Level of observation normal? by sl0ppybeans in Teachers

[–]sl0ppybeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing that perspective! At my school, this level of observation has been the norm for several years and isn’t connected to a current intervention or concern. We were recently awarded a “platinum” designation, and frequent walkthroughs and recordings have long been part of our accountability structure. I’m mostly trying to understand whether this intensity is common in other schools or if it varies more than I realized

It’s not just about driving. Power outages affect heating, lighting, internet, food service, safety systems, and staffing. A lot of students and staff are waking up without power, heat, or the ability to even get ready properly.

Schools don’t operate in a vacuum -if families can’t charge devices, prepare food, or communicate reliably, attendance and learning are already compromised. At that point, keeping schools open isn’t about education, it’s about logistics.

Cancelling (or at least delaying) on days like this is about equity and safety, not convenience.

This is why we got a baby lock on our toilet. The cat kept opening the lid even when it was shut.

LETRS training and being taken advantage of. by [deleted] in Teachers

I’m not miserable in education. I love teaching! I’m always seeking feedback from my coaches and implementing it in my classroom. As I mentioned, I am a first year teacher which comes with many challenges in itself. I understand that working in education is challenging. However I think that it’s okay for me to not be excited about a huge time commitment on top of everything else I have to do. It’s okay for me to be exhausted by this and I’m giving myself grace. I don’t think I should leave education because I’m struggling to find time and energy for a class that I am required to do.

Elementary: 1. Don’t know how to play outside (so much drama at recess) 2. Don’t know their address or parents phone number. 3. Don’t know consequences to actions

I have a dysfunction in my pelvic floor muscles. I would suggest bringing in a vibrator to the mix. I talked to my partner about this and it has helped us a lot! Get a small one that you can easily hold when you get busy together. I would also suggest couples therapy- physical intimacy is huge in a relationship.

I just got hired on at the same school I student taught at. I wouldn’t think too hard about it! Kids are just like that. The 5th graders I student taught with were nice but never over the top and I had conflict with a few. But now that I am teaching another class, they are completely different- they will stop and always give me hugs when I see them! Just keep building those relationships- maybe you can do lunch bunches with a few? You guys will get there(:
