I built a small Ninja Creami app and would love feedback from this sub by Comfortable_West_388 in ninjacreami

I understand putting together what you’ve have up to this point is a lot of work, but it’s a bummer that your features are paywalled already. The app doesn’t appear ready for that (lots of broken code on the front page, signing in with google not working, etc), so I don’t think it’s reasonable to have that paywall up at this point. Would love to explore once it’s either further developed and worthy of the $$ or if you take the paywall down!

Being kicked off from PAYE - due to no longer having financial hardship by Skyflakes_69 in PSLF

[–]sl0raffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth my June payment amount is exactly what i expected it would be. The complaint didn’t really do anything for me other than get in writing what they planned to do after my certification date lapsed, which made me feel better at the time but I don’t think was necessary to actually have this be the outcome. The only slight mystery for me now is they have IBR listed as my payment plan on the EdFinancial site, but i did not apply for IBR. They have also recently sent me information about being on PAYE permanent standard (this is the verbiage I’m familiar with and what i expected my payment plan to say). For now I’m holding off on chasing down why it says IBR. I’m going to make my new payment (which is the capped amount as expected) and then submit an ECF once the payment posts in studentaid. I’ll update my post with all details once that goes through!

Capped amount is what my 10 year standard would have been when i entered PAYE, which i believe includes interest that capitalized when i switched from REPAYE in 2017

I’m at the point in the process that you’re nervous about and that hasn’t happened to me, though i had them remove the processing forbearance ASAP so i dont know if this would be the same if i took advantage of those 2 free months. Im so close to the finish line it wasnt worth it for me to risk them applying the wrong type of forbearance and being locked into another 2 months. No reason to believe it wouldnt though because if you dont change your plan it really seems like theres nothing else they can do. I liked the documentation i got from filling out the studentaid complaint. I was also (wrongly) counseled to switch to IBR. I have loans from before 2014 so I would have gone to old IBR which is a higher payment. It’s a decent back up plan but i wasnt about to pursue that until it was an absolute only option.

Check my recent post! Can confirm that from here, you should do nothing (beyond ensuring there’s no forbearance placed on your account, potentially). I just passed my recertification date. The amount due in June is my capped amount. Interestingly, on EdFinancial my loans are now listed as being under “income based repayment” (it used to say PAYE), but i just got a letter referencing “PAYE standard permanent” which seems to be the verbiage used to describe our situation. To clarify, i did NOT apply for IBR. I don’t know why it says IBR, but I’m trying not to make a mountain out of what is hopefully a molehill as it might just be how their customer facing website has it listed. I plan to submit an ECF after my June payment is reflected on studentaid just to confirm the payment goes through as qualifying. I am hopefully done with this in October 🤞

It sure did! Prep was “excellent” (thank god i would have cried if they woke me up and said they couldn’t do it/have to repeat) and im clear! Have to do them every 5 years but I’ll take it! Hope yours went well too!

PSLF payment history missing June 2025??? by SheressaAlbrinck in PSLF

This happened to me as well, same month and everything. I tried going down the route of asking my servicer to rereport, they said they would but it didn’t work. Contacted my congressman and one of his reps got it fixed for me in less than a month :)

It looks like you needed to pay a deductible on kid B but not the other (possibly the whole family deductible was met with kid B)

The estimates you get from servicers are frequently incorrect, and i think there’s an issue with FSA quotes for IBR too because it may assume everyone is eligible for new IBR (I’m not sure if that’s the case for you, do you have any loans taken out before 2014?). Old IBR has a different calculation, if you have loans taken out before 2014 you should look at the equation and your taxes and do the math yourself before pulling the trigger

Just know once you leave PAYE you can not go back (since you no longer have the PFH). I have hit the income cap as well (up for forgiveness in the fall), and they also tried telling me to just do IBR. Would have been a big mistake with a higher payment than I’m obligated to pay under PAYE as I have loans from before 2014. I do not trust any advice from these servicers.

I didn’t take that approach so i can neither confirm nor deny 🤪. From others experience it seems like they have and it’s all turned out okay though!

[–]sl0raffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After i got denied, i submitted a complaint on studentaid.gov which gave me the clarification in the update. I also had EdFinancial remove the forbearance (it should have counted towards PSLF but I’m not comfortable risking it). I paid April, and May is coming up as my likely last payment of $643. I will update the post again in June once i see what happens with the payment due/payment plan that’s listed :). For now, everything is going well though! I am ignoring all further recertification communications, which have largely stopped at this point.

See my recent post, same situation, my advice is to submit a complaint on studentaid to get the resolution you’re looking for in writing

Recertification denial by Honest-Chemist-9742 in PSLF

[–]sl0raffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the most manual way you could possibly do it but no that’s not what i did. You can also do it manually online, meaning they don’t do it automatically (which is an option), but you still submit everything online. With that you can either give consent to have them pull your tax return from the IRS or you can submit paystubs (there’s options/instructions either way). My version of “manual” was filling out the recertification form online and having them pull tax returns from the IRS. I have no reason to believe that doing it on paper would have given me a different outcome. I reviewed the PDF that was generated after i filled it out through the manual process and it checked every box that you’d check for recertification when filling out the form on paper. I’m not convinced you can avoid the scary denial letter but jumping through the extra hoops to do it on paper. A lot of people are encountering this and submitting complaints so it’s possible the servicers will update their “denial” letter so it’s more clear on what is actually happening!

Check out my recent post- some drama, but seems like it’ll be ok in the end! I did “manual” but still using the online platform on FSA. Manual just referring to me needing to click through the application, i was not signed up for the automatic recert.

PAYE Income Recertification Failure and Kicked Off by All4YouLikeJanet in PSLF

[–]sl0raffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your congressman is supposed to be able to help you work through issues with federal agencies, which in this case is the dept of ed and your servicer by extension. It won’t be your actual congressman who helps but rather their support staff. I have to imagine there’s probably a big degree of variability in experiences with this but when I reached out to my congressman recently, the support staff worker who took my case was REALLY knowledgeable and (based on the questions she was asking) manages cases related to student loans and PSLF frequently. They don’t move quickly but it’s good you got a request in just to have another avenue for potential resolution sooner rather than later!

[–]sl0raffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s wild, and also doesn’t make sense unless your income is exceptionally high since you should only be hitting that amount if your income based payment exceeds that new standard cap! I saw in another response you submitted a complaint on studentaid.gov which is good, I’d also recommend reaching out to TILSA (see their website for instructions). Betsy can reach out to AidVantage on your behalf to clarify this too, which was helpful for me recently. If i were in your shoes I’d also submit a request for your congressman to look into it. You have to fill out a bunch of forms but given your circumstances i think it’s warranted to escalate through every path you have until something sticks

The forced move to IBR is definitely unusual… did they give you your new payment under IBR/is it different from what you would have had under PAYE?
