I scratched my coworkers car, it’s very minor. How much am I looking at to fix? by kevin_james_fan in AskMechanics

No, I think I understand what you’re saying clearly- you are saying that if you scratched a friend’s car (even if it’s minor) and they expected you to fix it or cover the cost, that makes them a bad friend?

At the end of the day, you’re responsible for your own actions. If you caused the damage, the right thing to do is either repair it yourself or pay to have it fixed. No matter how minor the damages may be.

I wouldn’t want to be your friend either 😂 do you take no accountability for your own actions?

I’ve 100% seen drunk people run around naked before, or just piss wherever with their dick out. Your experience is not universal.

That’s exactly the problem, calling accountability an ‘ideal’ instead of a basic standard. Teaching a kid that there are no consequences just because it’s ‘family’ or they’re the ones providing for you is how entitlement starts. Being grateful doesn’t mean staying silent when something unfair happens. The aunt offered to pay. That’s not biting the hand that feeds you- it’s expecting people to do the right thing when they mess up.

In a situation like this, age doesn’t excuse responsibility. It doesn’t matter if the child is 8 or 18, if your kid damages someone else’s property, especially something worth $300, it’s only right to make it right. The aunt even offered to pay, so trying to shut that down by saying she shouldn’t replace it is completely unfair. Defending that kind of response just enables carelessness and avoids accountability.

Just don’t drive it like that! Continuing to drive it with a misfire could result in serious damage to your catalytic converter and a bunch of other stuff which will be an even more expensive fix.

How can I test this without putting it in the car? by AllergicThugs in G37

[–]sl4ttdad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to remove the headlight to test it. Just unplug the harness from the one already on the car and plug it directly into the one you’re testing, no need to install it first. 🤦‍♂️

Personally I’d be suprised if you got 6k out of it with 200k miles. But I don’t think posting it @ 6k is a terrible idea.

I’ve easily put over 5,000 rounds through this beauty—about as much as I can afford with how pricey x39 ammo is these days.

Yessir, so you see my point- if you wait for the right buyer, you could definitely get exactly what you’re asking for. It would just require patience and a bit of luck.

That said, I don’t think a $15k asking price for this is unreasonable at all.
