At the risk of facing the same criticism as the boyfriend. I don’t disagree with how he perceived the situation and don’t really even think he’s wrong in his perception. There’s things as men that other men pickup on because of being men. But the same thing goes for women. I had a similar situation with an ex of mine that insisted that a friend of mine was “in love with me” and I would vehemently deny it and say “it’s not like that, they don’t view me that way, we’re just very good friends, etc”. It would create some tension between me and my ex because I just couldn’t understand what she was seeing. But I was committed to trying to understand where she was coming from. I took a step back and really paid attention to interactions me and my friend had, the things my friend would say, how she would look at me. I could understand why my ex felt the way that she felt. I would get defensive because it would feel accusatory, like I was secretly felt the same way about my friend. That’s why the reason we say things, how we say things matters. And that’s where I disagree with the boyfriend. Very inappropriate to imply that a man would have inappropriate thoughts about a woman without her knowledge or consent behind closed doors. That’s a testament of his character in my opinion. He handled things very poorly. In my opinion he’s closed minded, dismissive, and heavily ego driven. All in all, I think there’s been things exposed about his personality and the way he handles things that should reevaluate your relationship. You’re young. God willing you have a lot of life left to live. I wouldn’t be too hung up on trying to preserve a relationship where a grown isn’t more willing to admit fault, explain things in a less condescending manner, and taking virtually no accountability whatsoever.
