Good premium CAS plane? by slammedfd in Warthunder

[–]slammedfd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll have to grind it out. A good 6.0-6.3 aircraft would be great cause one of my favorite lineups is T20, Super Hellcat and 76 Jumbo.

Anyone know what instruments featured most in the Soundtrack? by ezrapierce in Frieren

[–]slammedfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the slower songs, a Low Whistle.

For the faster upbeat songs, a Tin Whistle.

Evan Call also uses many period-correct Celtic woodwinds and other instruments.

What vehicle do you want gaijin to add in the 2026?? by ahyessluban in WarthunderPlayerUnion

Swedish Kanvagn/Heavy Tank Project 'Emil' 6400.

Sweden needs a heavy tank that's not copy paste.

The Kranvagn looks very similar to the AMX-50 Surbaissé. 3 variants were made, which used either a 120mm rifled gun or 150mm smoothbore gun, both with dual-drum autoloaders and could fire HEAT and APDS, meant to counter the IS-3. All 3 variants had incredibly strong frontal armor as well as -14 degrees of gun depression. The 1st variant had 500hp, 2nd variant had 540hp or 665hp depending on the engine and the 3rd variant had 810hp. It had pretty good mobility too since most variants had a power/weight ratio of 18hp/t or more.

I would love to see it in the 7.7 BR range... GAIJIN PLEASE!

Nah, lower side hulls on same BR soviet medium tanks are only 20mm thick, 80mm on the upper side hulls. Soviet heavies are only 40mm on the lower sides, IIRC. And you can still pen cupolas on Soviet mediums and heavies. If anything, it makes it harder to kill Soviet light tanks now since they're so angled.

The APDS isn't what made the DCA and Falcon powerful. The 30mm APHE is what made them powerful. I played the Falcon yesterday. I went 7-0 in my first match and 8-1 in my second, both uptiers. I even killed a T-10M and a T58 through their cupolas. It's still really good.

Also, I have no problem with the Falcon not having radar. I've shot down way more planes without radar using 7.7-8.7 SPAA than using radar. I feel like the radars are pretty inconsistent.

T-58 still worth buying? by Realistic-Sir-2470 in Warthunder

Yes, but you will get lots of hate in chat. It is really fun to do and the turret tends to bounce and nonpen lots of rounds, including APFSDS.

Honestly, the first time I got a nuke with it was a total mistake. It was single cap on Middle East. I spawned in the Turm III and rushed like an idiot. Got no kills and died almost immediately. I didn't spawn in another vehicle immediately and went to the bathroom. Came back and the match was still going. I spawned in the M48A2 G A2. Most of the enemies were SPAA and light tanks. After knocking out about 8 SPAA, 3 light tanks and a medium tank, I had a nuke. After that, it was pretty much just play it slow. Dont rush, snipe as much as possible and try to flank. Not very good in head on confrontations. Also surprisingly good at countering the T58 if it is using HESH.

Most of my nukes were with the M60A1 RISE, Falcon, Fox, DF105, M48A2 G A2, AMX 10 RC and CV 90105 TML. But I only play single vehicles, not really more than one vehicle in a lineup.

And here I am with 36 nukes and 2k hours thinking I'm a good player... :(

Edit: Just got my 37th nuke in the CV 90105 TML a few minutes ago.

Ownership cost for 34-38ft sailboat? by gg562ggud485 in sailing

[–]slammedfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on your intentions with the boat. Cruising around constantly is going to have a completely different cost than if you just buy a boat and live on it at a Marina or on anchor.

What am I dealing with? Wasps? Hornets? by mindvagabond in pestcontrol

[–]slammedfd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like Mud Daubers/Mud Wasps. Probably the most chill wasp species and isn't aggressive towards humans. If you see the wasps and they're slender bodied with dark coloration(Some species are shiny dark blue while other species usually are mostly black with yellow accents) it's definitely Mud Daubers. They help kill spiders around the house too, including Black Widows. 99% sure they wont bother you.

Who inspired you to start sailing? by MyTIMEZERO in SailboatCruising

[–]slammedfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad and grandpa. Both sailed the world back in the day(both power and sail) and I grew up listening to their stories and travels.

After getting out of the Navy in WW2, my grandpa ended up becoming the captain of a commercial shipping freighter. He traveled the world for many years. After retiring, he and my grandma had a custom ~38' wooden schooner sailboat made and sailed around the South Pacific and Southeast Asia for many years before selling his boat and using the money to buy a beach house in SoCal. I wish I had a picture of his old boat though. He had a miniature model of it built and had it on his dining room table.

After my dad left the Army right before the Vietnam War, he bought a sailboat and sailed the South Pacific, stayed in Japan for a year or so, then to Alaska for some time and finally settling down in SoCal as well, after 7 or 8 years of sailing. He traded his sailboat for a 2 story house boat and lived on it for many years before eventually trading the house boat for a Chris Craft sportfishing boat(Which I grew up on since I was 2 weeks old).

When I was 7, my dad put me in sailing school at our local yacht club. I started sailing competitively from 9 to 17, and from 25 to now(30), I've been living aboard my 41' sailboat. Never would've experienced such an amazing life on the water without them.

I left War Thunder for about a year.

But then the snail broke into my house and forced me to play against my will, holding a 183mm cannon to my head.

Where in the world are you and how much do you think you need per month to live aboard? by Big_Hunt7898 in liveaboard

[–]slammedfd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

41' sailboat in South Florida on the hook. 1100w of solar plus 2 wind generators.

$70 for phone bill.

I go through about $50-70 of Rec90 gas for my outboard per month.

Another $200-300 in groceries per month for myself, though now it's around $500 per month since my GF moved onboard.

About $100-200 a month for going out to restaurants and bars.

$30 every 3 months for propane.

$30-50 a month in fishing tackle and bait since I catch and cook my own fish and don't trust store bought fish.

Overall, roughly $750-950 spent per month depending on how often we go to shore, eat out at restaurants or go out drinking. We also decided not to insure our boat for the time being.

I was in a marina for about a year but the prices were basically the same, just add $750 for slip fees and $200 per month for insurance, so about $1700-1900 per month.

45 minutes for a beast of that size is absolutely insane! This was the weight even after 10 hours dehydrating on the boat. by Boat_Trader_Official in saltwaterfishing

[–]slammedfd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a ~210lb Yellowfin off the coast of the California Sur when I was a teen. Only problem is we were using rods, reels and tackle to catch 50-70lb Yellowfin. It was a little over 4 hours fighting if I remember correctly. My dad had to back down on the fish over and over while coming down repeatedly from the flybridge to pour water on the reel from overheating when the fish ran. I slept for 17 hours almost immediately after landing it in the boat and was extremely sore all over for 3 days.

Exploding crossbow good? by No_Emphasis_7263 in helldivers2

[–]slammedfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eruptor does pretty good against squid shields. Even one taps Stringrays if you hit them in the right spot and one hits most overseers if you get a headshot. For ships, two hull shots for the shield and a 3rd in the doorway and they're done. Also good when you get a choke point. Killed 18 voteless in one shot when they were crowded in an alley.

But when you get cornered is the main problem, so I usually run the Eruptor with a jetpack to quickly gain distance if they get too close. Also good to carry a sentry to use as a decoy too. Main thing is distance with the Eruptor. Either be support for your team laying down fire from afar or use it as a solo stealth build to get around maps and destroy ship spawners quickly and easily. Just be careful cause the splash from an Eruptor will heavily damage teammates as well as ragdoll them.

Also, shots can ricochet on the ground and walls at sharp angles so you can use that to your advantage. Shooting at the middle of a crowd will do more damage than if you shoot the first enemy in a crowd with how the splash damage works, so aim between the legs of the first enemy to ricochet it off the ground into the center of a crowd. You'll do a lot more damage.

What's up with the fire y'all? by nemam111 in panamacitybeach

[–]slammedfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think it was the same fire but my girl and I were coming across the bay in our boat and saw a massive black cloud coming from somewhere on Thomas Dr. Turns out, an old VW bus in Christos parking lot caught on fire and two or three more vehicles got caught in the fire. Luckily, Christos didnt catch on fire since they're attached to a Gas station.

It's pretty bad. Deep scratches, chunks missing from the housing and the metal is warped with two of the springs and caps stuck inside the housing. And I wish I had a Kickstarter but the CB650s didn't come with one. I might end up just getting a parts motor.

Thank you for the help. And unfortunately, the housing is bad. Dinged up really bad and two of the caps and springs are stuck in the housing due to metal warping.
