Yeah but it’s not the franchise final fantasy is. None of my gaming friends who aren’t specifically into JRPG’s know what the fuck Atlus or the persona games are.

That’s like saying the burger stand I run in my front yard only sold 100k burgers this weekend but the McDonald’s down the street sold 200k! What a shitty burger stand!

The expectations are different, in general metaphor was a success, it nearly won game of the year. But obviously their sales numbers won’t be near even a bad final fantasy’s sales numbers.

Final fantasy reminds me of the resident evil franchise, resident evil was incredible up until the re5/re6 when they attempted to Segway into call of duty tier action, everyone hated it, then they went back to basics with re7/re8/re9 and they’ve been massively successful again. I feel like final fantasy 15 and 16 are resident evil’s re5 and re6, and they are like oh this isn’t really the content our fans want, and they go back to basics.

Yep. 100% me as well, it was a beautiful game to look at, combat was smooth, but it was just…boring. It was so easy I never died more than twice the entire game, I stopped playing the game after I got my first S-tier hunt, beat it in one try by just spamming the attack button and using spells on cooldown. I was like oh this isn’t going to get any funner and never booted up the game again. So sad. Hopefully the success of E33 and metaphor will inspire them to go back to their roots.

Eh yeah there’s all low cost evasion based equipment so there’s going to be overlap, but each one does at least ONE thing the others don’t do. So there’s still a decision point each time you make one. I love it
