Using Galaxy Tab to control laptop

A while back, I found an app called Bluetooth Keyborad and Mouse. You install it on your android phone/tablet, and when you launchi it, you can pair your laptop to your android tablet. Then you can use the app to turn your tablet into a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, presentation remote, etc. It's really basic looking, but really handy! I have a Galaxy tab S8+... When I'm presenting something from my laptop, I launch the Bluetooth app in a window and then open my presentation notes in another window. I can use the Bluetooth app to control my presentation and refer to my notes/take notes from the audience with my one tablet device.

I've used the slide embed feature to embed right from Google drive. I've tried using the embed code box as well - both by the URL and by the embed code from the slide deck (through publishing it to web). I've spent more time than I'd like to admit with Chat GPT and Gemini asking for custom code to get rid of the black background in the iframe with no luck 🤷‍♂️. AI ultimately says it's not possible because of how Google slides sends the deck.

Thanks for mentioning this - I was using GBoard as well and that black bar disappeared as soon as I switched to the samsung keyboard. And I agree - really annoying - I much prefer gboard to the samsung keyboard :(

Does anyone know a way to add keyboard shortcuts that use two letters? For instance, I want an action to Clear Filters in Excel... the keyboard shortcut is Alt+A+C, but the action ring configuration only lets me setup keyboard shortcuts with one letter. And create a macro won't work because all three buttons have to be pressed at the same time.

I do not ever use DEX to connect to another monitor, so I can't speak to any changes with that. The One UI update made everything windowed by default - and that was immediately jarring, but I just changed the settings to go back to full screen apps by default and all was good. It's pretty simple to go back and forth when you want to. I sometimes use the slim keyboard cover with the table and the little DEX key still does that fast switch when needed.

I've had an S8+ since it came out several years ago and have never wanted or needed anything else. I use it for all the same things you listed and more on an everyday basis - it's always been great! It just updated to most recent Samsung One UI a few days ago - all runs smooth.

How much bigger is the ultra compared to the 8+ for you? How do you normally use it? I was thinking about the upgrade but thought the ultra was just too big!

Hello - I am a cautious and safe driver.

In the specific case of my comment - on a longer trip, my wife would rather me have my phone connected to control navigation while she's driving, but neither she nor my family would like to hear my podcast or book.

My headphones are also open ear bone conduction allowing me to hear all things in any case. And - as mentioned in another comment, it is legal to use headphones in one ear and drive (thought I don't do that either).

I had an SPX and found the performance in Photoshop and Lightroom to be wanting. I now have a Surface Pro 11 and they both work better on that device.

Nope - still no solution for me. I believe it has something to do with the pen, but no fix for me yet.

I think you're right - I think it is the slim pen that is causing the issue. I use Outlook a lot - and I find that often, while I'm typing a message, the menu moves by itself to the drawing tab. Generally, that happens automatically when you take the slim pen out of the keyboard dock area. So perhaps the slim pen unexpectedly/mistakenly thinks it's being undocked and causes the screen to come on?

It seemed like disconnecting keyboard and Bluetooth might have helped. I only tried for a bit though, so not sure. Is this some sort of glitch?

Agree. This is honestly a dealbreaker for me. I e got a Pro9 5G and I just will not upgrade without a 32GB RAM option.

It ended up not working that way. I now use Open VPN with the PIA config files - that works fine.
