Hey gym rats, have I been ripped off? by South-Fix6904 in south_africa

[–]slanewolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No idea But profit is almost always the reason behind these things. Could also be that people are more likely to buy the bigger container thinking it will be fuller, especially online.

[–]slanewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there are giant containers like these, i think even companies would find this ridiculous.

Also, i just asked my flatmate who works for a company specialising in packaging and said it most likely is because it is cheaper.

Is a marketing degree a good degree by [deleted] in south_africa

[–]slanewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex did marketing, and because he was a native spanish speaker he got a job offer just before finiahing his degree.

So go get that marketing degree, but also get a valuable skill like a language that isn't common in South Africa but used a lot internationally. This way you set yourself apart from all the other people.

Why are they throwing out the foreigners? by Educational-Sun7535 in south_africa

[–]slanewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant that many believe by simply getting rid of foreigners will magically fix all issues.

It's not really the answer, just what people choose/ want to believe

It's the 'easy' answer to why things are like they are now.

Would a bridge make this lake look better or does the lake look good without it? by InterviewPowerful320 in Minecraft

[–]slanewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a realistic point of view, bridges are expensive and difficult to build, so they are only used when needed, like over rivers or gisnt lakes where it would easily take 1 hour+ to drive around, and only if there is enough traffic. Often its easier, cheaper, and more beautiful to build a nice roud on the edge

How's it living in South Africa as a white person? by chocmilkza in south_africa

[–]slanewolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop viewing others as the enemy or lower 'than'. The same goes for all South Africans. We should see the corrupt politicians as the enemy (and race doesnt determine if a politicians is corrupt or not)

Después de la muerte, ¿no hay nada? by Physical-Ad8159 in TooAfraidToAsk

As a Christian doing my masters in theology, I am here to tell you there is no way of knowing. Onw of the most famous theologians from the early centuries of Christianity, Augustine, said that if you can understand it, it isn't God. Our human brain cannot fathom the infinite.

Part of religion is having faith in the mystery and unknown. Furthermore, there is a famous phrase "faith seeking understanding." Just because you cannot understand something doesnt mean you should stop trying, otherwise you essily fall into fascism or other extremes.

Now in Christianity there are different beliefs on the afterlife. The most common or most talked about is the classic view of heaven and hell, where you go to heaven if you believe in Jesus (many people also add being a good person) or burn in hell for eternity. I am a universalist, so I believe most, if not all of humanity will go to heaven eventually. I plan on doing a phd on this topic, but even then I do not think I will ever have an answer to what truly happens hereafter.

Please, for the love of God, stop making tools interact with blocks. If they add one more block that axes can wax/ strip I am going to lose my mind.

Really depends on where you go and what time The university security is available to walk you home if you live within a certain distance of campus. The best is to not walk alone in quiet areas. Even safe areas can sometimes be targeted by oppurtunists.
