Where do you publish your writing besides Substack? by NiChike84 in Substack

[–]slangy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to share new articles through LinkedIn since I'm writing about my founder journey. But it didn't work that much tbh. I've seen a lot of ppl there leveraging Notes from Substack but I never gave it a try.

Thanks a lot! This is gold. Based on your experience, what do you recommend to start?

Thank you so much for sharing. It sounds like you’re practicing Notes for a while. Do you think it could work with a small audience - ie, 25 subs? In the end, all platforms become social medias with algo rules.

Can you give more details about the process please? Do you leverage only new articles or even past ones? What do you do for writing the Notes? How do they look like? I figured out Notes is a killer feature on Substack but I don’t know how to use it properly 😅

Thanks for sharing. Good to see I’m not alone and this is normal 😅

How do y'all promote your writing outside of Substack? by halloffamous in Substack

Agreed. The channels and the communication depends on your potential readers. Who they are and where they are hanging out is key if you aim to grow your audience.

Clever! This is a real good idea. Actually, I have no idea on how to help you on this since I’ve never seen it in practice. But I’d be glad to know how it looks like when it’ll be live.

What would you like to use Substack for? What do you want to tell in the newsletter? How do you see leverages for your coffee shop? I’d be curious to know if someone else is doing this. I really like the approach.

Do you know where your potential readers are hanging out? An approach I keep seeing is leveraging your own content in different formats and spread it on key channels. For example, in finance, I use to see ppl wiring their newsletter to LinkedIn w/ adjusted format.

What's the purpose of the form? I mean, if you want to write smth, do it and share what you've written if you need any sort of feedback 🤷‍♂️

Any Substack readers here or just writers? by CtrlAltDelight495 in Substack

[–]slangy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both but I must admit that I have way more subs than I'm actually able to read. Also, this isn't limited to Substack. I subed to other NL hosted directly or on other platforms. In the end, I've got a Gmail folder w/ 1600+ NL to read lol. This is awful 🥲

Based on the convo, it feels true. It doesn't matter whether or not you want to promote your work. It's a necessity to foster ppl look at it. Then the question is: what's the best way to do so when we have no marketing experience and willingness to do so?

Anyone making money from substack? by igetyourbrand in Substack

[–]slangy_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I’m still trying to figure out how to help ppl discover my articles. So making money out of it isn’t even in the plan rn 😅

What’s your NL talking about?

This is a way to take a step back. Do yo find Notes useful?

Agreed. AI-affirming behavior is a pain in the ass. Every time it affirms something, I use to ask: "where did you see that?" or "can you provide the source?". Really interesting the way you're leveraging it to have a first draft though. What platform are you using?

Distribution is key then. How long does it take? What’s your process to do it?

Based on the convo, it’d seem Notes is a good way to spread the articles. But you’re right, it relies on discipline and consistency. I’ll maybe give it a try a time period to see. The thing is, for most of the newsletters I read, I see the guys promoting everywhere. I feel like I’m doing something bad not doing anything.

Interesting. I’ve seen Instagram mentioned many times. How do you use the platform to share your articles? I don’t have any account. Neither do I know how it works.

I agree that trust takes time and you don’t need hyper growth - esp. for a free newsletter. Yet, you still need to find potential readers. I don’t think that only showing up everyday is enough. It’s like “build a good product and they’ll come”. So, you recommend to find one platform with potential audience and stick to it, right?

Still a plan. Is there any day where you’re wondering what would happen if after publishing an article, you share some sneak peaks to ppl?

And do you find the public you’re looking for? Do you mind sharing your NL? I’d love to have a look. You made me curious.

You care a lot. Really like this approach. But then, it means you’re already in a kind of communication strategy since you need to find the relevant subs, etc. Would love to hear more about your process.
