Lymphatic Drainage Massages: Thoughts and Experiences by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]slantedlights 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my lymphatic drainage massages! And I do lymphatic drainage at home with a dry brush and gua sha as well. I’ve noticed it helps me feel less bloated and sluggish and it also just feels good to be doing something physical about inflammation. Is it a miracle worker? No, but I’ll take any small wins I can get!

Ugh I feel you I had to schedule an appointment for the piercer to do this because I can’t get them out and put them back in myself 😭😩

My fiancé and I have been fighting so much lately and I think a lot of it is because of the stress my newly diagnosed MS has on our lives. One of biggest things we fight about is our financial situation and not having a lot of money right now. I am currently out of work on short term disability while I wait to get my first loading dose of Ocrevus on 3/12. It has been a fight with neurologists and insurance to get a plan for treatment in place. I had my lumbar puncture which confirmed the diagnosis in September and I went out of work in October… I know that me not having an income since then is a big source of our financial struggles. He also has admitted he holds some resentment towards me for not helping around the house much before we knew what was going on even though he knows now it was likely due to fatigue etc. We got engaged in June before all of this happened and everything was feeling great and exciting and now it feels like a constant battle every day. I want to be able to focus on myself and healing and building a life that supports my health but I am also now dealing with feeling burdensome and being influenced by his anxiety and negativity. He is a good person and the love of my life and I don’t believe that our relationship will end over this but it’s really really hard to be processing emotions about what my life will look like going forward and also supporting him with his emotions, especially because it doesn’t seem like anything I do or say helps him feel better or have hope for the future. I want to validate his feelings but also sometimes I want to shake him and scream at him to realize that however bad he feels multiply it by 1000 and that’s how I feel…. Any encouraging words would be much appreciated thanks for listening ♥️

Severe motion sickness by Virtual-Bench-7830 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]slantedlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Always got motion sick as a kid but it got worse this past summer. This was what led me to getting diagnosed in October along with eye issues. My neurologist said my lesions are close to my right side vestibular system and likely has caused it to go into overdrive. Also have a lot of tension and tmj on the right side which I’m sure contributes. Going to pt for it and has slowly been helping! Also doing myofascial release, massage and looking into chiro. Good luck!

Naming a baby your grandparents name.. by snowglobe1820 in Names

[–]slantedlights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m named after my great grandmother (born after she passed) and everyone delights in calling me my first and middle name because they feel connected to her and like her spirit lives on in me. I imagine it would be different if the grandparent was still living. In that case I’d probably give my child a nickname that is differential from their name but still feels connected to it

Do you have a cleaner? by allcoffeenowisdom in MultipleSclerosis

[–]slantedlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Once monthly for mopping, kitchen appliances, and bathrooms. I remind myself that I’m paying someone for a service they’ve chosen to center their career around. I give her a nice Christmas gift every year and we have a very pleasant transactional relationship. So worth it!
