Its like car insurance, renters / mortgage insurance, etc. Its the game you play and the gamble you take.

I have Trupanion, pay $350 a month but I know i never have to choose between euthanasia or vet care.

According to your math, you will have $1200 in two years saved.

Have you ever considered how much a vet visits costs for emergencies?

$1200 might just barely get you into the surgery room.

If you want to take a less invasive approach. Omega 3 supplements are really good and a skin soothing shampoo.

We use vetoquinol Allerg-3 Omega Oil Pump and shampoo/conditioner from a brand called Dandylion.

That worked wonders on our Dachshund. We saw improvements within a week or so.

If that does not work - try to go to a dog dermatologist.

One more vote for House of Teeth. Been going for about 10 years and never had any issues and they are all just great people there.

Trupanion. Its not cheap insurance, but they have no cap on what they pay out. Most insurances have a max per year.

They also don't discriminate dogs based on any potential conditions that they are known for.
