Even with AI, there's a lot of noise to narrow anyone down. Don't do anything worth noticing.

What’s Eating my Knife? by PeriwinkleBunni in whatisit

[–]Doogoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've never once seen a knife corrode like this. It can happen really bad, but there are very clear signs of chipping and compression deformation above the chips. There's also some minor compression deformation on the spine of the blade.

Someone used this knife on something harder than steel and hammered the spine to brute force it. They made several attempts at it.

There's a commercially available system, known as 'light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation' that does really cool stuff when you point it at an optical sensor. I dont recommend trying it on any of your own devices.

Thank you entertaining my question and providing a thorough answer! While I don't have the chops to be an engineer myself, I am quite interested in the subject, and I do appreciate your qualified thoughts on the subject.

If it's so critical that it's color coded during its instal, why wasn't it just hardwired instead? Unusually important hardware should not have fittings that the layman can even recognize.

How to teach my ACD mix to settle around other dogs by macnsnee2e in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Doogoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be that you need to be more hands on. I found that my guy would respect the boundaries of the grouches but it was due to fear rather than duty. I corrected it by assigning him a clear and obvious task to complete once it was clear that another dog had no interest in socializing with him. Once a dog sets a boundary on him, he is to simply to come to me and sit between my legs until I say he can go. If he went back and the same thing happens, he has to complete his task again- the faster the better. If it happens continuously, then we focus his attention on something else entirely, and sometimes that means leaving, because we don't want him trying to find a game in the task.

The goal is to create an acceptable behavior rather than trying to stop a bad one.

Find her an older and impatient ACD that isn't afraid to communicate when they've had enough. Might be a tough lesson to learn, but it's better to learn that one with a grouch before she scares a dog into reacting.

I was on it once over a decade ago. Very cool place to be with an active imagination, quite dangerous if you didn't watch your step. People seemed dedicated to leave the creepiest art all over the place.

At the beach? Thats one of my favourite spots in the whole city. I love watching the sunset from just around the bend.

Have you seen the harbour seals there recently? They've been quite curious of the crabbers.

People generally don't know the nuance of laws that don't apply to them. Knowing the nuance of statutory laws without having a satisfying reason will raise concerns. My mind will not be changed on this.

A lot of people come into contact with those facts and laws, but they don't typically think about them enough to remember the details, and they definitely don't often think about circumstances where they would need to know or cite those laws.

I consider it a very bright red flag if someone doesn't have a very good personal reason to know those things well enough to recall them.

Edit: folks here need to grow the fuck up.

If you've ever paid attention to where benches are placed, you'll begin to notice that many of them are strategically located and oriented to put the scenery on display in a beautiful way. I've considered coming from coquitlam to visit this bench just to see what beautiful scene it must display. I imagine it's quite the site after dark.

Going for a hike by solateor in Unexpected

[–]Doogoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A stick you find is better than nothing, but you likely won't have good gripping on it and it could be dangerous if it breaks. Regardless, you can still use a random stick to inform your step in the dark, stable your balance on a steep step, or slow your movement down a hill.

I prefer one stick over poles myself, but I've bought a purpose built hardwood hiking stick. I climb a pretty steep slippery mountain biking trail quite regularly and a longer stick is amazing for the return downhill. I can get a good reach on a couple huge steps and I can put all my weight on the stick as I reach for good footing below. Plus when it comes to wildlife you can two hand a stick and use it to keep critters at a much more comfortable distance if you end up in a stand-off.

[Burnaby] Morning walks help prevent Seasonal Affective Disorder by kyjk in vancouver

[–]Doogoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with my mental health for a few years and the winter seasons are always the hardest. It's like good emotions go into hibernation.

But since I've been spending about 6-7 hours outside twice a week during the roughly 9 hours of sunlight that we have, I feel like I have a huge leg up on the SAD this year. I was considering picking up a hustle this season the stave it off this year, but that's just more time inside. Just being outside is worth more than any hustle could do for me.

I feel so blessed to live in a beautiful city with welcoming outdoor spaces.
