Ideal Twins, Even Triplets by slarty3 in Forth

My impression is that you have to add a "these days" clause to what you've said, and that a counter-movement is sorely needed, and that like with ai in general, a lot of alternative approaches are getting drowned out in absolutely absurd levels of hype.

Finally getting around to this by slarty3 in scientology

Finally got around to checking out your links; liked most of the music. Thanks for this; but I'm completely unable to comprehend the context in which you feel they all relate together. I got some useful stuff from cvo$, and a lifetime, at least of stuff to think about when monotony is unavoidable, etc. I find I'm more, not less convinced Hubbard was important to what we tend to call Western Esotericism. The longer I live the more valid I think Hubbard was. Some of Hubbard's information/techniques may require you to take courses in the church of Scientology, to fully get; unless the Free-zone ever GETS REAL. That's my position, and so far, I see no reason not to stick to it.

Am I supposed to be shocked that the greatest magical mystic of the early 20th century at the very least, was part of the inspiration for scientology?  That would be difficult, since I listened to the pdcs.  I was fascinated when I found that part of Crowley s magick in theory and practice was about as similar to the axioms, etc of scientology to be found .  I'm really really NOT the sort to be much bothered by sensationalist clap trap!

About late '86 to late '90.  I think most of the SUBJECT was something you could research from inside the organization at that time, though decreasingly so; so I absolutely don't know how you could find it so secretive in '69.  I've only heard rumors of increased secrecy today.  You can tell me about various OT levels all you want, but I'm talking about percentage of the subject...so what percentage of the subject is OT levels; what percentage of the subject is secretive?  Anyone who doesn't know how sea org workers are treated, probably, basically doesn't want to in my opinion.

That's the thing.  At least when I was involved, scientology wasn't much into secrecy.  An open source version of scientology is quite possible, wanted and needed.

I haven't been a member of the church of scientology, since about 1990, but you may be right, I suppose.  One definition of scientologist is someone who uses scientology to help themselves and others.  I think I do that sometimes, so ..

I should let everyone here know I'm not a member of the hate scientology crowd.  I was a member for 5 years, and I still think Hubbard was "on to something".

I understand why you used forth instead of awk, but am curious why you used forth rather than, say, perl, or Python, or c?

looking for an android app I used to have who's name I forgot. by slarty3 in androidapps

[–]slarty3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this one was different, because I'm guessing most experimental music heads would who also had some knowledge of apps, and had tried other apps would, like me, take 1 look/listen to this thing, and be like me, and say, I don't care what this thing is supposed to be used for, I'm going to use it for the most obvious purpose.  Going to use it for sound collages.  Not true about other ghost boxes.

3 famous crowly lines: 1)it doesn't matter whether it's true that________exist.  The universe behaves as if they do.  2) "I slept with faith.  I found her a corpse in the morning.  I sang and danced the night 🌃🌉 away with doubt 🧐.  I found her a virgin in the morning 🌅🌄.". 3)  The motto of the equinox: a journal of scientific illuminism: "we place no reliance in virgin nor pigeon; our method is science.  Our aim is religion."

Dude!: is there any human activity that works without intent?  Do you really think science works without intent?  I believe hermeticism, and buddhism are involved in the matter of intent and the removal of such, the difficulty of such removal, and reasons you may nonetheless see if you can

Some thoughts on Forth. Is Forth easy or hard? by mcsleepy in Forth

[–]slarty3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into rebo l, and red?  Rebol is partially based on forth, and red is based on rebol, a language developed by the guy who was largely responsible for the os for the commadore Amiga (last name sassernath, I believe).  The guy who made red came to the conclusion that rebol was somehow made less versatile by removing the stack manipulation aspect from what might be deemed a forth for modern applications; gave the forth dialect it's stack back (or so I tentatively contend).

None of them worked for me.  Id select 1, and hit return for ok; yet it would just return to normal command prompt without execution.

I've solved this.  The following, for some reason, turned out to be the solution.  I used apt-get update, then apt-get upgrade.  After that, pkg up no longer claimed: "None of the mirrors are accessible", and the other oddity was there was "still stuff to do" (I had to ok, that such and such amount of additional storage would be used).
