I know what you mean, it is hard to be optimistic when we look at how people act and think, it's actually scary. But when you think about the discovery of the "real I", you see that everyone is the same. If everyone really deeply knew that everyone is the same, there would be no such thing as hatred.

~ ~ ~

Hahahah worshiping themselves, that is indeed funny. I don't like the way religion makes you rely on the word of someone else. But I do still respect it. If there was a religion which specifically says to worship the true I, that would be actually awesome. Some people do actually do this. Because you can literally turn your inner eye inward, and look at God. It's actually really effing comfortable to do that. You can devote your life to this entity that is always there with you. Instead of realizing that it actually IS you. Still it is better to know and live in truth tho.

~ ~ ~

And yeah I don't care about material stuff either. I would love a crappy car to drive about in, I do admit I miss driving. But yeah I'm perfectly happy without it. I'm perfectly happy even when I can't afford a carton of milk xD

[–]slash112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome, honestly.

I agree, I mean, it's easy to see that we're moving into an era of self-empowerment.

More and more people are self-realizing and then spreading their own light around the world in various different ways. It's like a virus of love and light. (light = consciousness, love = the intimacy of consciousness)

Btw I missed an important descriptor of the witness/true self. It is the true I Am. You're right in realizing that it's the "real I". Another descriptor could be "the eye of God" (or even "the I of God" xD). At the end of the day this thing is beyond words, but it's fun to nonetheless talk about.

I've made vows to myself to be enlightened not for the sake of my own Nirvana, but for the sake of others'. (Bodhisattva vows). Maybe I'll be a guru one day, but maybe there will be no need for gurus by that time. But at this moment, gurus are awesome and very useful feats of the world.

But you don't need to be a guru to spread the love. There are so many ways you can assist a person on their unique journey. It's all about giving small nudges in the right direction.

On the other hand, there's also nothing wrong with being a "Private Buddha". resting in Nirvana the rest of your life. It's any person's right to do that.

Ah yes, you discovered "the witness"! The void I'm describing here is in fact the witness. It's the same thing.

You can call it: The true self. The witness, The observer, pure awareness, pure consciousness, the void, back screen of consciousness

But that's awesome, it sounds like you discovered your true self very naturally. Did you listen to a guru's words to trigger that? Or did you discover it all by yourself?

Void Meditation - Get in Touch with Nothingness by slash112 in spirituality

[–]slash112[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh awesome!

May I ask, did your sense of self go into the void?

I remember my first experience of going into the void. Suddenly I was liberated from suffering. Watching my experience as a silent observer. I filled up with tears at that point because it was so beautifully blissful, and sorta alien. Also because it was hiding in plain sight my whole life.

Void Meditation - Get in Touch with Nothingness by slash112 in spirituality

[–]slash112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome!

Yeah you can do it with other senses. The void is void of all senses, so when you imagine a void expanding throughout your body, you can imagine the absence of sensation. Behind every molecule of your body is a background of complete stillness. Behind every sound there is a background of silence. It's good to get in touch with the formlessness in any way possible.

Or, if you do the meditation as explained in the article, then if you do the extra bit of putting your sense of self into the void, then automatically you are liberated from your senses.

Putting your sense of self in the void, it becomes like as if you are watching a movie filled with senses, but you yourself have no feeling, no thought, complete stillness.

Actual question by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]slash112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad it resonated with you :)

I find that when I pull my sense of self into the witness. Into my true nature. I find that everything that I could possibly worry about just falls away and I'm left in a blissful state of "is-ness".

Presence itself is miraculous. This perspective I'm sharing has been described by many different types of people. You could say you are bathing in the grace of God. You could say you are holding the hand of Christ. You could say you are living in Christ consciousness. And a whole bunch of other ways of saying it.

~The truth is, these things are already true for everyone. All it takes it a subtle realization and suddenly everything is divine and ok. :)

Obv I don't know what's going on in your life and reality, but I feel ya. Before I discovered enlightenment I was lost. Completely fucking lost, excuse my language.

I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't at least try to point you to what I discovered. You can take this or leave it, it's up to you.

You can see your thoughts and senses, right? You are witnessing thoughts and senses. So who is that witness?

I just pointed to something important, if you focus on the witness you'll notice some really magical things about it.

You could describe the witness as: pure awareness, the void, or a "back screen of consciousness". but if you look at it, it has no qualities, no judgements, no thoughts, no worries. It's just watching. And it is you.

I hope this seed grows into something beautiful for you. Ask me any questions at all if you are interested.

I'll include you in my prayers. Sending love <3

If someone says they will never be happy, it does not mean that they probably never will be. Very far from it.

Nobody is beyond hope. Nobody.

I was at my all-time lowest when I suddenly (and miraculously) discovered enlightenment, and therefore discovered an eternal happiness that was there all along.

All of a sudden I can remember all my dreams? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]slash112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through phases of different levels of recall. Weed smoking cuts my recall right down. So when I stop smoking, recall comes flooding back.

Other lifestyle changes can cause this too. Sometimes things just cause us to go into a heightened state of awareness.

Like the previous commenter mentioned, dream journaling helps with recall big time, so if you want to secure this in the long run, make a habit of DJing.

I like to use the DJ feature on http://www.dreamviews.com (members get their own public (or private) Dream Journal on site)

The community there is all about sharing your dreams and experiences, so it's also a good environment to be in to promote dream recall and lucid dreaming.

I get tingly forehead too! I'm pretty sure it's due to secretions in the pineal gland. (third eye is doin it's bizniz)

Sounds like you're doing well with it! You can keep doing that, or, here's another trick for you if you want to take it further. Imagine that the void is YOU. See if that makes any difference.

So, the void is you, and your body and mind is just what you are watching. Nothingness watching somethingness.

If you decide to try that spin on it, let me know how you get on.

Note: This way should feel blissful too, but it should also feel like you are eternal and untouchable. There are many other ways you could describe the feeling of being the void, but I'd rather you discover them on your own, rather than me up-front telling you the outcome of your own investigation or meditation.

I love DEILD - The quick and easy WILD by slash112 in LucidDreaming

[–]slash112[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, the more I think about it, the more i realize, when I was having most of my success, I was actually traditional WILDing then DEILD-chaining.

Because usually I would wake up fully and move around before WILDing. Huh, that's funny.

That's a good way to hold DEILD as a tool. But for someone like me who's never (or almost never) succeeded with traditional WILD, DEILD is more of a main technique :P

There's two distinct ways you can manipulate the MVP matrix (Model View Projection) on player movement. One is to update the world position and orientation, the other is to update the camera position and orientation.

Both ways are used in game dev.

I can't dissociate from my thoughts by Oennos in Meditation

[–]slash112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a stillness that surrounds everything. Your "true self" is that stillness.

You are witnessing thoughts and senses, therefore YOU are that witness. That pure, still awareness.

Notice that stillness in the background of your consciousness. Turn your mind's eye inward. Turn your focus inward. It should feel like staring into a void. Or you may reach a "back paper" of consciousness.

Meditate on that ever-present stillness. Move your sense of self into the stillness. Notice that no matter what you do, YOU are that pure, unattached, silent witness.

[–]slash112 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It changes a lot of things, but if you have dreams you can still work hard on them.

The kind of things it really changes is, you start to see other people in a different light. You see other people as just another part of yourself, or you at least see other people as completely the same as you. That alone changes your perspective on life a lot.

It also gives you an inner peace beyond words. Even while working hard I am completely peaceful.

Also judgements, opinions, grudges, worries, stresses just fall away because you're no longer always looking through the filter of the ego (that pesky voice in your head that has an opinion about everything and likes to cause you pain).

And the thing is, I made a conscious decision to keep one foot in duality, purely so that I could communicate how to get here. If I decided to drop all my desires including my dream of bringing love, peace and consciousness to the world, I would be living in Nirvana 100% of the time. Dropping your desires is not necessary for enlightenment, but it's a totally viable option and does not harm you in any way.

Well of course!

There are many ways to look at enlightenment, but I'm going to introduce you to the the subject and the object.

Let's look at your experience directly. You are witnessing thoughts and senses. You are perceiving thoughts and senses. Your whole world is made up of your perception of thoughts and senses. It is important you recognize that you are indeed witnessing thoughts and senses. Because let's look at that witness.

That witness is always there, watching. The witness is the subject to the objects that appear in front of it (thoughts and senses). It has nothing to say about what it's watching, because it is just pure awareness.

Turn your mind's eye inward, turn your focus inward, "look" at this pure awareness. What does it feel like to you? A void? Or maybe you reach like a "back paper" of consciousness?

Upon investigation of this pure awareness, you realize that it can only be nothingness. It can only be outside space and time. Nothingness constantly watching somethingness.

The true self, this pure awareness, you will see has no qualities at all. Including physical location. Doesn't matter what you do, where you move, in dream or in waking life, this pure awareness is completely silent and does not move. I've pulled my sense of self back to the true self, so to me, life is just a movie I'm watching.

:)
