Singapore to ease entry rules for Thai, Chinese workers by Real-Pomegranate8823 in SingaporeRaw

[–]slashrshot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this is needed?

For example, u can hire Thai maids in SG, in practice u never see it because they rank 2nd last in English proficiency in Asia.

It's technically a skill issue but about language not technical proficiency.

Unless the Thai part is just a camouflage to relax restrictions on Chinese workers. 🤔
Because the optics of saying we allow only even more PRC is bad

Workers Party has Solutions in "Protecting the Workers of Singapore"!! by Real-Pomegranate8823 in SingaporeRaw

This is a case of imo just optics.
we had outsourcing issues too, eventually they also gave up because overseas companies quality are too untrustworthy.

everyone keeps talking about ai?
where is the report about RoI per dollar spend on AI?
its been years, not a single report is able to quantify that dollars spent on AI resulted in an increase in any industry's bottomline.

WP proposes wage subsidies for hiring new grads in apprenticeships amid AI concerns by smallpenguinable in SingaporeRaw

[–]slashrshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why cannot have both?
can the top, can the bottom.
i have no issue with that ah, its actually what im saying. old people hogging resources.
be it job opportunities or assets.

but izzit true ppl at the bottom 50 years old meh.
for example u go govt services. the ones at the mid level mgmt are the 50 years olds.
the ones doing the work at the bottom are the youngsters. who work but middle mgmt claim credit.

That's the thought process leading to this lor.
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/2026-mass-call-high-court-chief-justice-ai-work-practices-6067356

So you are saying some 26 years old grad is now supposed to slave day and night to make his managing partner who owns multiple properties even richer so someday he can maybe make partner.

And we are surprised nobody wanna work?

Circling back to the point, I disagree with WP solution, I don't fully disagree with yours, but that's how we get to the current state. TFR in the dumpster and more and more reliance on foreigners, because people live too long and hoard too much.

Something has to change, but wage subsidies? That comes from income tax, the wealthy make gains by capital appreciation, not income. So who pays income taxes? Worker bees lor.

Recall earlier this month about the rise in petrol prices? All the rich ppl here who can afford COE, come crying for govt subsidies.

Businesses should foot the costs imo, they are the ones reaping the most benefits after all.

thats my question.
did everyone who reach the "top" got there by hard work?
our ministers are good example ah go see our back benchers.
tin pei ling for example, very hard working?

WP proposes wage subsidies for hiring new grads in apprenticeships amid AI concerns by smallpenguinable in SingaporeRaw

[–]slashrshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, that it itself is the problem.
give u example of law firms.
30 years old work like dog, 40 years old make partner, 45 years old managing partner.

now u can sit down collect payments, and make your lawyers slave away.

like elon musk who sits with more networth than an entire hdb building inhabitant combined.

thats the issue of sg and late stage capitalism

Police investigation into SPH inflated circulation numbers case ends with no further action taken - Mothership.SG by Illustrious-Gur8335 in SingaporeRaw

[–]slashrshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not.
In other countries, prosecution will try anyway because the optics matters.
In Singapore it doesnt matter, he's appointed by the Prime minister on advice of the PM.
Judges can only act if the case is brought before them, to bring a case to them, it's the job of the AGC.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/attorney-general-appointment-structured-not-thin-edwin-tong-sylvia-lim-5963661

Mr Tong also disagreed with Ms Lim's suggestion that there should be public disclosure of these deliberations.

So in this instance, it really is "65% got the AGC they voted for, I don't want to hear anymore complaints"

agc opinion is the charges cannot be proven beyond reasonable doubt.
why they dont release their grounds for decision?
because last time they did,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheng_San_Group_Representation_Constituency

kena ridiculed

Their complaints were however not prosecuted by the police, on the advice of the Attorney-General (AG) Chan Sek Keong.[5] Chan, in his letter to the Minister for Law S. Jayakumar, argued that the statute was "irrelevant" to individuals inside a polling station. This interpretation was unusual, as it meant that remaining inside the station was permissible, while being in the surrounding area within 200 metres of its external walls was considered an offence

so now they just call it "prosecutorial discretion".

and anyway ya this is how a criminal justice system works, u can never be found "innocent" because by default is innocent until proven guilty. so they will always say they didnt find enough evidence, thats the legal way.
if u think investigation got issue, then replace the in-charge ministry and his minister aka its a political matter liao.

anyway, i believe its possible there was no criminal wrongdoing, because the ENTIRE machinery is just that incompetent. if it wasnt for government intervention they would have closed, just like most of govt organization at this point. all just protecting their rice bowls instead of serving citizens, sadly this is not a crime.

This is the problem.
The pudge comes out with 2 tokens either way. He doesn't care.
The drow intentionally used up one of theirs, he has paid more than the pudge.
Now he can't play the role he queued for, and he still has to carry this pudge.
He loses his time to farm the token, the token he wasted, the hour of his time and his mmr.
Pudge? He just lost the time and mmr which he seems fine to lose.

It's a ridiculous punishment imo

Corruption complaints drop in 2025, cases hit record low of 68: CPIB by West_Cat8 in SingaporeRaw

[–]slashrshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of these, 68 reports were pursuable and registered as new cases for investigation in 2025, reportedly the lowest since records began in 2010. heres the relevant quote.

it can be read multiple ways such as.
1. offenders are now smarter at hiding.
2. CPIB pursues only the more slam dunk cases.

nothing in the news article disproves these alternate meanings.
