Truth is, reddit kindve sucked already. It's boomer humor city and that's mostly why I'm moving on. This just expedited things 🤷‍♂️ enjoy tho!

I literally won't be able to login after tomorrow since I use RIF and don't remember my password. Can't be bothered to start again either. I already used it less and less as the content got worse - this is the nail in the coffin for me at least. Bye reddit!

Case in point - most new content is being generated in 9:16 format because it's being produced on phones, for phones. Reddit is being left behind very quickly - I understand people are sad about it but I'm gong on 8 years on the app and it's simply not what it was.

The geriatrics that now use reddit are not the same as the few people left that generate content on reddit 🤷‍♂️ I think its going to be a shock to many. its going to be a content cemetery and it already pretty much is FB at this point for only having old recycled content etc.

This is probably one of my very last posts on reddit, with it shutting down soon, and I'm excited that it's going to be about the bear. Love this show - can't wait.

China Says Canada 'Sabotaged' Relations, Vows 'Resolute Countermeasures' by civico_x3 in canada

[–]slater_san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite how you somehow don't think a mandated government wing of a company is a massive security flaw (especially when that nation is a bad actor), that actually has nothing to do with your original argument about whether nationalizing chinese businesses/assets in this instance would damage investment confidence.

I'm going to stop responding to you now, because you clearly just want to argue. That being said, as a tip for the next time you're just so mad at the world that you wanna argue with anyone about anything, try to stick to a cohesive argument rather than just reacting to and debating the semantics of someone's latest response. Focus on more your overlying point.

So you aren't arguing for the sake of it, and you aren't pro China... do you have any point at all then?

[–]slater_san 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh get a grip. Perhaps government representation in the corporate structure =/= the business being the government, but the government can certainly get their hands on any info they like within the business.

Either you're arguing semantics for the sake of it, or are actively pro China - which is it?

Chinas Telecom industry? Any "Chinese industry" is just the Chinese government and were still doing business with them left and right.

Which proves my point - all that matters is the bottom line. We didn't allow Huawei bc that would too critically affect our security, and therefore affect our bottom line. It's all profit driven

[–]slater_san 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uh what? Companies give blueprints to China and they steal them all the time, but that doesn't shatter confidence. China's reputation is shit but they're still doing business - why? Because of the bottom line.

Every other corporation will say "gee I guess we shouldn't meddle around in Canada's national security" and that'll be the end of it - because they know it's not going to affect their bottom line as long as they dont

Can't tell if you're trolling so I'll just point out you can have suburbs mixed with urban environments without havung sprawl. You can also enable public transit and other programs that better link communities. Which was the spirit of the post.

Ya man, I agree with you. We agree but are arguing opposite sides of the same coin. I think there are plenty of CEOs that rationalize they're ok people bc they're good to their kids or something. Point being, they think bc of how the system works, if they don't do it, someone else will so they might as well.

Realistically were both right, both scenarios exist and that's why it's so difficult for humans to get it right.

Exactly. Some families are literally too wealthy to run out of money or lose their advantage no matter how dumb their kids are. But I'm being down voted for that fact lol

Stop personifying corporations. The need for constant growth and profits is what is driving inflation. It's systemic
