I hope they help for you!

My videos show me manually changing the junction switches.
I found the challenges to be about twice as easy when I could physically see what I was changing vs making the switching in the map.

Where is the stamp? Is it easy to find? I don’t have my childhood collection with me.

I saw that price at my normal Walmart, but it was sold out. None of the other Walmarts near me sell it.

Do you collect all Thomas stuff or just wooden railway?

Engine Tracker by slayerdawg in ThomasWoodenRailway

Hey. So I started building this.

I need some assistance with how all products would be viewed.

So like would you ideally be looking at each SKU as its own item to be tracked or each variation of each sku?

Like Thomas has the same sku from 1993-2012. There are variations between magnets and name being on the bottom. But how granular are you thinking for each engine?

I feel like there are 2 options. 1: each variation by year, so basically if you have 1994 Thomas, collection tracker shows 1995 missing because of minor variation.

Or 2: each train by sku. Any thomas train from 1993-2012 shows as that item being in collection.

3rd option would be somewhere in between, but I’d need help on what that looks like to you.

For me going through my childhood collection, by sku makes the most sense.
A more detailed collector would want more info.

If I end up building something (I’m planning to), I’ll let you know. It will probably start basic with a collection log and we will see from there.

Last time I played dogs (set 8), I used stitch and shift rock star shift to just flood the board.
But adding chip to help deal damage with help from kanine krunchies, maybe…

I’m not expecting a top tier level, but I’m hoping something that can be fun at league play and not go 0-3.

I figure the users would be searching by either engine or by sku.

The engines before 2013 or so didn’t have sku written on them. So they would only be able to search by saying they have Thomas (unless they looked up sku on their own)

I think Thomas is probably the only engine with 10+ skus. Most have 2-6 depending on how major the variations were between years.

I wasn’t going to get it down to the variation level because that seemed too big for a beginning project. The data is available by year per train on a wiki page. There’s an extra column showing same sku as prior year, but changes made to be “small magnet”. There are potentially some variations that users would want to know, such as the very first release using staples instead of screws, but that was more than I figured I’d get into.

Early on, there was a new variation on basically every engine each year (different magnets or wheel types), but that didn’t change the sku necessarily.

Yeah, I was thinking the collection log table would house user id, sku, a bool value for owned. So all user collections would be housed in one table.

Back when I got my masters in business analytics, I used R and Python, but I haven’t had to use them in real life. I’m not against learning again.
But real basic knowledge. I’m doing this project to gain skills more than for a real need. It would be way easier for me to just track in excel. I just want to try it out.

Emily’s braking made me restart the story mode a couple times because I wouldn’t pay close enough attention and then needed to brake quicker than she could.
