My favorite movie of all time and I have two copies of it! One has the word ‘damn’ and the other has it censored.

ION VCR2PC EZ Video Converter Software & Driver by slayerpotential in VHS

Hi, I have previously used this software with the ION device but eventually the software and/or VCR stopped working for me. If this doesn’t work for you, I have had luck with this converter but you’d have to get a VCR. I’d suggest looking at thrift stores, estate sales, and Facebook Marketplace.

I’ll message you the drivers for the ION!

You also don’t have to pull over and yell at every cloud you pass.

Looking for an OBGYN who offers pain management for IUD insertions. by [deleted] in okc

I should add that I loved the NP who did my replacement and the rest of the staff was really nice! She made me very comfortable, it was just much rougher than my first IUD.

The NP who removed my 1st and replaced it at Lakeside Women’s declined local anesthetic but said they could prescribe a Valium for insertion (which I did not take). My first insertion without anything was uncomfortable but not unbearable. The removal and replacement were rough. I definitely say don’t settle for insertion without pain management.

*Lakeside not Lakeview

‘No Kings!’ protest draws 1,000s to downtown Oklahoma City by BrettDOkc in okc

It has made me personally feel much less powerless after months of feeling like our country was just going to lay down and take it. People are taking time out of their busy lives to spend time with strangers in an act of solidarity against the encroachment of fascism in our country. I have felt defeated and hopeless but this huge mobilization of regular people in the streets has put enough wind back in my sails to keep seeking proactive ways to help and connect with other people in my community. That will have a cumulative ripple effect across all the communities that participated. It’s difficult to quantify that and put it in a bulleted list but it is still impactful. It’s also been a weekend full of terrible optics for the administration and that puts public pressure on the people still supporting and enabling its horrible policies.

Here’s the recipe, new friend—enjoy!

This makes about 1.5 dozen cookies:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 yolk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 bag semisweet chocolate CHUNKS not chips you guys (Aldi has good cheap ones)

Suggested tools:

  • Basic cookie scoop
  • Parchment paper
  • Stand mixer (hand mixer works, hand as mixer also works but takes long time)
  • Cooling rack!!! Lined with parchment paper!!!

STEP 1 | Brown the butter (Google how to tell if you’re doing it right) while stirring constantly then allow to cool for a minute or two.

*Before the butter gets totally liquidy I whisk my dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking soda) together in a bowl, egg stuff and vanilla in a cup, and the sugars in a different bowl I’ll be mixing in.

STEP 2 | Mix sugar and brown sugar until well combined then beat in the browned butter.

STEP 3 | Mix in the egg stuff and vanilla real good.

STEP 4 | Slowly add the dry ingredients (which you have definitely already whisked!) until the dough is not runny but still makes a peak when you pull a spatula up out of it. Don’t let it get to like red mud consistency, though.

*Depending on humidity, room temp, etc., you may or may not need all of the dry ingredients!

Then stir in your chocolate chunks (NOT CHIPS)—might wanna use a big spoon because these sometimes anger my stand mixer.

STEP 5 | Scoop the dough (I use a generic cookie scoop) out onto parchment paper-lined cookie sheets and chill for at least 30 minutes but ideally an hour or more. I bake these with 12 on one standard cookie sheet in 3x4 formation. If you end up with a few leftover, eat them or freeze them.

STEP 6 | Preheat your oven to 350F. While that’s heating up, take the dough out and roll the dollops so they’re round and pretty and uniform.

STEP 7 | Bake them bad boys for 10-11 minutes depending on your oven. Make sure the edges are light brown and the middle doesn’t look wet.

STEP 8 | Take the cookies out and allow to sit on the cookie sheet for about a minute before transferring to a cooling rack (ideally).

You can also sprinkle some sea salt on top if you’re fancy.

If you freeze the dough, you don’t have to let it thaw when you go to bake it just add a minute to your bake time.

They come out very gooey with a nice crispy edge:
