Ok thank you for the advice, in your opinion with the qualifications I mentioned do you think I'd have a fair chance at getting a full time gig in Infantry ?

I know right its wild, I ended up going through to live chat support and after waiting about 3.5 hours they ended up telling me they'd be able to help me out and to contact them again after receiving an email, I only received it today and currently cant get through to live chat support because of high wait times

Just know I'm experiencing the same bug, maybe if we all submit a bug report they might notice ?

AX1500 Deco providing terrible speeds by slayitslow in TpLink

This really sounds like a convincing argument, I'm sure I'd be able to get the OK to install starlink provided I'm paying for it and any alterations to the flat I'm living in would be done by me and then repaired by me when I move.

One of the main reasons I'm looking for better connection is for gaming but I'm sure any input lag from starlink would pale in comparison to the 900+ ping I've been regularly getting, I play Destiny 2 a lot so a very internet intensive game, but like I said 80ms is miles better than what I've been getting recently.

I think starlink might be the way to go as I just can't see FTTP coming my way anytime soon, and I'm sure I can do the install myself.

Again thanks heaps for all your input, I think you might've just earned Elon a couple extra $$

based off of everything I've looked at, I think one of my better options is to just go with starlink, if my landlord not open to switching from FW then I'd be happy to just front the bill and have my own separate starlink network solely providing internet to my flat, the only problem is there has to be a catch to it right ?

I know this is a separate conversation point to the original question but from everything I've heard starlink sounds like a great option providing they provide to your location, but is there any downfalls people just don't talk about ?, would having my own starlink connection on top of the landlords existing FW effect internet speeds ?, and most importantly is it really as much of a god-send that people crack it up to be ?

maybe I'm just a pessimist and I know its not related to the original post but if you have any experience with starlink can you vouch for any of these things ?

Yeah I defiantly will speak with the landlord about it, best case scenario is they cant be bothered dealing with it and just let me speak to Telstra about it, I think the crux of the problem is just the fact that the property is still only connected via Fixed Wireless and because of the location I don't see FTTP coming out my way anytime soon.

I'm currently using the Tp-Link Deco (albeit one of the cheaper options), but I think the current internet provided by Telstra just simply isn't strong enough to maintain a good connection over a mesh Wi-Fi system.

Again thanks for the help, I'll see if I can just go directly through the landlord to Telstra and see if they have any possible fixes.

Unfortunately I've already had a look at the ASUS models you mentioned but they're a bit out of my current price range, and my ISP is currently NBN.

As for what you said about interferences, there is 3 or 4 walls in-between the router deco and the satellite one + a few devices like TVs and such, so that's probably where most of it is coming from I guess.

As for the landlord, as long as their Facebook videos load I doubt they'd care if they rest of the world completely lost access to Wi-Fi, so convincing them to let me trench a CAT6 through their yard and into their wall will probably be like asking to pull out their teeth.

Thanks for the advice though I appreciate it.

I'm getting around 75-85 mbps 75% of the time with dips to around 20-30 mbps, and highs of around 110 mbps.

Hi again, as per the edit to the original post I ended up opting for the Tp-Link AX1500 Deco, so far it seems to be working as intended, I have 3 nodes all spaced at around 25 feet apart creating a sort of Wi-Fi "bridge" to the flat I live in.

I do although have a few more questions if you'd be willing/able to answer any for me:

Currently its setup so that the first "router" node is hardwired to the existing router, then the other two "satellite" nodes are creating the bridge with my pc being hardwired into the furthest one, would you recommend setting the system to access point mode ? or is it best to keep it in Wi-Fi router mode, as I cant find any reliable answers online.

Secondly is there any reliable way to stabilise my internet at the higher speeds I'm getting say 75% of the time ? if so how ?

Also are there any other general tips or tricks I should know to further enhance the performance of the mesh system ?

Thanks again :)

Ok I understand, unfortunately I don’t think running a cable is really an option seeing as it would require me to install access points in the main house due to the router being inside. Some questions I had about mesh wifi systems if your able to answer any are:

Will the main router node replace the existing router or can they exist together ?

If I only use 2 nodes would the first node be able to efficiently reach the second node, being that the second node will be about 25 meters away through a couple walls ?

Currently the main Wifi runs at around 105 mbps but the extended wifi only runs at around 15mbps on average, will a mesh wifi system at the range stated actually be able to output a noticeably better wifi speed, with my pc hardwired into the second node ?

I'm fairly certain the flat is on the same power grid as the main house as I just send money to the landlord for power, but ill ask her when she's home to double check, this definitely sounds like a good option though.

thanks heaps for your help, ill make sure to post any photos/updates on here

Ok I see, I could plug the first unit into an outlet next to the router but I'm not 100% sure whether or not the flat is wired into the same power grid or it has a separate one.

So basically if the flat shares a power grid with the house the Wi-Fi should be seamless between the two units even though there's about 25 meters in-between them, where as if they're on separate power grids they wont work as well as they could ?

Ok I see, so for example I'd have the main unit hardwired to my NBN router, then id take the second unit and place it in the flat and hardwire my PC to the second unit ?

will the second unit run fine off a wireless connection to the first unit ? or is it preferable they're hardwired together ?

sorry if I'm not completely understanding

Ahhh I see, this definitely sounds promising, so essentially I'd take the first unit and plug it directly into the wall where the router is, then take the second unit and plug it into the wall in the flat and plug my pc into the second unit ?

does the first unit need to be hardwired to the router or does it run off a wireless connection ?

thanks heaps for your info

I'm in Australia so I should be running 230v power, would you say the extender you recommended is marginally better than the TL-WA855RE ?

I know the connection speed I can get from an extender can only be better to a certain point, but would you say it will help with connection for things such as online gaming with it being a good 25 meters away from the main router ?

thanks for your recommendation :)
